Metal cleaner
1 Scope
This standard specifies the product classification, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, as well as marking, packaging, transportation and storage of metal cleaner.
This standard is applicable to general cleaners for cleaning common metal materials and metal parts and components. This product is mainly composed of surfactant and various additives or solvents.
This standard is not applicable to metal cleaners for special purposes (such as aircraft cleaning).

3 Product classification
The product is classified into water-based metal cleaner and solvent-based metal cleaner according to the type of solvent medium in use. Wherein, water-based metal cleaner is classified into non-rustproof type and rustproof type. Water-based (non-rustproof) metal cleaner does not have specific rust-proof performance. Water-based (rustproof) metal cleaner is classified into the following five categories according to their applicability to metals:
Category I: applicable to steel (carbon steel, stainless steel, etc.);
Category II: applicable to cast iron;
Category III: applicable to copper and copper alloy;
Category IV: applicable to aluminum and aluminum alloy;
Comprehensive: combination of two or more of the above four categories of commonly used metals, for example, "comprehensive (Categories I&II)" or "comprehensive (Categories I&II&III&IV)" respectively represents the combination of Categories I and II or Categories I~IV.
4 Requirements
Water-based metal cleaners and solvent-based metal cleaners shall meet those specified in Table 1 and Table 2 respectively.

5 Test methods
Unless otherwise stated, only recognized analytically pure reagents and Grade III water specified in GB/T 6682 are used for the analysis.
5.1 Metal test piece
5.1.1 Material and specification of test piece
The dimension of test piece is shown in Figure 1. Materials and specifications used in the test include:
a) 45# steel, 50mm×25mm×(3~6)mm;
b) Z30 Grade I cast iron, 50mm×25mm×(3~6)mm;
c) H62 brass, 50mm×25mm×(3~6)mm;
d) LY12-BC2 duralumin, 50mm×25mm×(3~6)mm;
e) 1Cr18Ni9Ti stainless steel, 50mm×25mm×(3~6)mm.
5.1.2 Polishing and cleaning of test piece
Spread 240# abrasive cloth on the flat plate, and polish the test piece in a direction parallel to the long side of the test piece. Wipe up the polished test piece with absorbent gauze or absorbent cotton, hang it on the S-shaped hook, immerse it in anhydrous ethanol, and then scrub it with absorbent gauze or absorbent cotton clamped by tweezers. Then, transfer the test piece into acetone or petroleum ether at 30~60℃ for rinsing, dry it with hot air, and hang the clean test piece with S-shaped hook on the test piece rack for later use.
