Specification of zip line
1 Scope
This document specifies the technical requirements, inspection, detection and testing, accompanying documentation, marking, packaging, transportation and storage of zip lines for large-scale amusement rides.
This document is applicable to the design, manufacture, installation, modification, repair, testing, inspection and detection of zip lines for a single manned equipment carrying no more than 4 people.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 20306-2017 and the following apply.
3.1
strop
amusement ride that the riders, by virtue of such tools as pulley, slide along wire rope by gravity or other traction
[Source: GB/T 20306-2017, 2.3.2.2, modified]
3.2
load bearing rope
a wire rope, fixed at both ends and supported by a fixed wire rope metal structure, carrying the weight of the tackle, manned equipment and passengers
3.3
waiting zone
preparation area for visitors to wear sliding gear and read passenger instructions before riding the strop
3.4
unpowered zip line
a strop that does not rely on the power system to pull it (except for the recovery device), and relies on the conversion of potential energy to kinetic energy to move along the load bearing rope
Note: Common types include straightslip and reciprocating zip lines.
3.4.1
straightslip zip line
a strop in which the block is gliding one-way from the starting station along the load bearing rope by conversion of potential energy to kinetic energy without the power traction device
Note: See Figure 1.
Key:
1 — fixed point of wire rope;
2 — fixed wire rope metal structure;
3 — starting station;
4 — arrival station;
5 — slide equipment;
6 — load bearing rope;
7 — brake;
8 — cushion;
9 — length of zip line;
10 — height difference of load bearing rope;
11 — stop zone.

3.4.2
reciprocating zip line
a closed loop of strop formed between the starting station and the arrival station by arrange a block in the starting station and the arrival station respectively and connecting the upper and lower blocks with a traction cable. Without relying on the power traction device, the block at the starting station slides one-way along the load bearing rope by the conversion of potential energy to kinetic energy, and at the same time drives the block at the arrival station to go up to the starting station without being manned, so that the block moves reciprocating between the starting station and the arrival station.
Note: See Figure 2.
4 Technical requirements
4.1 Basic design requirements
4.1.1 The zip line shall meet the requirements of GB 8408-2018. The design shall be calculated correctly, the structure shall be reasonable and can ensure the safety of passengers. The main technical parameters are: length, running speed, height difference of load bearing rope, number of load bearing people on each track, the number of zip lines, etc.
4.1.2 The design document of zip line shall at least include the design calculation, design specification, operation and maintenance specification, risk assessment report, design test verification outline and a full set of design drawings that meet the requirements of relevant national standards.
4.1.3 Risk assessment shall include at least the stressed structure and stressed parts, equipment operating environment, obstacles around the equipment, human factors, accident factors, emergency rescue and other factors. The assessment shall include at least the stagnation of the rider, the failure of traction device, the failure of the rider device and the restraint devices.
