Rules for the improvement of safety of existing lifts
1 Scope
1.1 This document specifies the methods for improving the safety of existing lifts, with the aim of applying current safety technology to make existing lifts achieve the same level of safety as newly installed lifts.
Note: Due to the design condition of the building, it may be difficult to fully achieve the current safety level.
1.2 This document is applicable to permanently installed traction, forced and hydraulically driven passenger or cargo lifts.
This document can be used to improve the safety of existing lifts for the following personnel:
a) passengers;
b) maintenance and inspection personnel;
c) persons who may be affected by lifts around hoistways, machine spaces and between pulleys;
d) any other authorized person.
1.3 This document is not applicable to the following situations, but can be used as a reference:
a) Lifts other than the driving modes specified in GB/T 7588.1-2020;
b) Lifting equipment, such as chain bucket lifts, mine lifts, stage lifts, machinery with automatic cages and hoppers, construction lifts, marine lifts, offshore mining or drilling platforms, construction and maintenance machinery, or lifts in wind power towers;
c) Lifts with inclination angle between guide rail and plumb line greater than 15°;
d) Lifts (lifting platforms) with rated speeds less than or equal to 0.15 m/s;
e) Safety of operation during transportation, installation, repair and disassembly of lifts.
