1 Scope
This document specifies the terms and definitions, requirements and test methods for seat belt reminder devices in automobiles.
This document applies to the seat belt reminding device of the driver's seat position and the driver's seat position of the same row of passengers in the M and N class cars, and the seat belt reminding device of the rear passenger seat position in the M1 and N1 class cars, and the seat belt reminding device of other seat positions can refer to the implementation.

3 Terminology and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1
Level - alert firs1vel warning
Visual warning activated when the ignition or main control switch is switched on (with or without the vehicle drive running), is "ON" or "READY" (or equivalent) and any occupant in the vehicle is not wearing a seat belt.
Note: An auditory reminder can be added.
3.2
second level warning
Visual and auditory warning activated when the vehicle is in motion and any occupant in the vehicle is not wearing or opening their seat belt.
3.3
Safety-belt reminder
A system consisting of an unbuckled belt detection device and a two-level reminder (first level reminder and second level reminder) that warns the driver when any occupant in the vehicle is not wearing a seat belt.

Visual signals (indicators, flashing lights, visible symbols, messages).

3.6
Safety-belt unfastened
The buckle of the occupant's safety belt is not inserted into the buckle lock or the length of webbing pulled out of the retractor does not exceed the minimum pull-out of the safety belt. Note. The minimum pull-out is the amount of webbing required to insert the buckle into the buckle lock when the seat is unoccupied and in the last and lowest position.
4 Technical requirements
4.1 General requirements
4.1.1 The driver's seat position and the seat position of the occupants in the same row shall be fitted with a seat belt reminder device in accordance with 4.3.
4.1.2 The rear passenger seat position shall be fitted with a seat belt reminder device in accordance with 4.4.
4.2 Test requirements
4.2.1 Visual reminders
4.2.1.1 The visual reminder signal shall be placed in such a way that it is easily visible and recognisable to the driver in daylight conditions and at night and can be distinguished from other reminder signals.
4.2.1.2 The visual warning signal shall be constantly illuminated or flashing.
4.2.1.3 The colour and signage of the visual reminder signal shall comply with 5.1.26 of GB4094-2016. The display colour shall be red and the sign shall be as shown in Figure 2. Other supplementary information (e.g. seat occupancy status, position, etc.) may be in a form and colour customised by the manufacturer.
4.2.1.4 The visual reminder signs for seat belt reminders in the front and rear may be shared.
4.3 Seat belt reminders for the driver and occupants in the same row
4.3.1 Driver and passenger seat belt reminders shall comply with 4.2.
4.3.2 The second level reminder shall be activated when any front seat belt is not fastened or when the seat belt is unfastened while the vehicle is in normal operation and the activation conditions for driving as described in 4.2.4.1 are met.
4.4 Rear occupant seat belt reminder
4.4.1 Rear occupant seat belt reminders shall comply with the requirements of 4.2.
4.4.2 The visual reminder shall have additional information indicating all rear seats and shall enable the driver to identify unbuckled seats when facing forward. This provision does not apply to vehicles with rear occupant detection devices.
4.4.34.1.1 and 4.1.2 The reminder signs for seat belt reminder devices for the seats specified in 4.4.34.1.1 and 4.1.2 may be shared.
4.4.4 For vehicles with rear occupant detection devices, the second level reminder shall be activated when any rear occupant's seat belt is not fastened or when the seat belt is unfastened during normal operation of the vehicle and the activation driving conditions specified in 4.2.4.1 are met; for vehicles without rear occupant detection devices, when the seat belt is unfastened during normal operation of the vehicle and the activation driving conditions specified in 4.2. 4.1, the second level of reminder shall be activated.
5 Test method
5.1 First level reminder
The activation of the first level of reminder shall be tested separately for each seat as follows:
a) seat belt not fastened;
b) Transmission in Park or Neutral position;
c) a load of 40 kg is placed on the seat cushion or a dummy or person representing the 5th percentile adult female; alternative methods specified by the manufacturer and approved by the certification body may also be used.
c) a load of 40 kg on the seat cushion or a dummy or person representing the 5th percentile adult female; alternative methods specified by the manufacturer and approved by the certification body may be used to simulate an occupant riding in the vehicle, the alternative load shall not exceed 40 kg;
d) the ignition switch or main control switch is switched on (with or without the vehicle's drive unit running), in the "ON" or "READY" state (or equivalent), and the vehicle is in the "ON" or "READY" state.

e) Check the status of the seat belt reminder for that seat.
5.2 Second level of reminder
5.2.1 Test conditions
The vehicle is driven for the test using one or a combination of the following conditions:
a) The test vehicle is accelerated forward from a stopped position to 15gkm/h and the speed is maintained;
b) The test vehicle is driven more than 300 m forward from the stop position;
c) the test vehicle is driven forward for more than 60 s.
5.2.2 Driver's seat test
5.2.2.1 The test shall be carried out in accordance with the following steps in the case where the seat belt is not fastened before the vehicle is driven:
a) The driver's seat belt is not fastened;
b) Seat belts are fastened in seats other than the driver's;
c) The vehicle is driven in accordance with the driving conditions determined in 5.2.1;
d) when the above driving conditions are met, check the status of the driver's seat belt reminder device.
5.2.2.2 The test shall be carried out in accordance with the following procedure for unfastening the seat belt while the vehicle is in motion:
a) Seat belts are fastened in all seats
b) Drive the vehicle into normal operation and hold it there; c) Unbuckle the driver's seat belt;
5.2.3 Test on driver's seat and rear passenger seat with occupant detection device
5.2.3.1 The seat belt is not fastened before the vehicle is in motion, and the test is carried out separately for each occupant seat in accordance with the following steps:
a) Seat belts unfastened in all occupant seats;
b) Seat belts in the driver's seat are fastened;
c) A load of 40 kg is placed on the seat cushion or a dummy or person representing the 5th percentile adult female; an alternative method specified by the manufacturer and approved by the certification body may be used to simulate the occupant riding in the vehicle, the alternative load shall not exceed 40 kg;
d) drive the vehicle in accordance with the driving conditions defined in 5.2.1;
e) check the status of the seat belt reminder device for that seat when the above driving conditions are met.
5.2.3.2 The seat belt is unbuckled while the vehicle is in motion and the test is carried out separately for each occupant seat in accordance with the following procedure:
a) A load of 40 kg is placed on the seat cushion or a dummy or person representing the 5th percentile adult female; the manufacturer's specified alternative method may also be used.
The alternative method specified by the manufacturer and approved by the certification body shall be used to simulate the occupant's condition in the vehicle, and the alternative load shall not exceed 40 kg,
b) Seat belts are fastened in all seats;
c) drive the vehicle into normal operation and maintain it; d) unbuckle the seat belt of one occupant;
e) the status of the seat belt reminder device for that seat is checked when the driving conditions determined in 5.2.1 are met, measured from the moment the seat belt is unfastened.
5.2.4 Tests on rear passenger seats without occupant detection devices
When the vehicle is in motion and the seat belt is unbuckled, carry out the test for each occupant seat separately in the following steps: a) Seat belts are fastened in all seats;
b) drive the vehicle into normal operation and hold; c) unbuckle the seat belt for that occupant seat;
d) Measure and calculate from the moment the seat belt is unfastened and check the status of the seat belt reminder device for that seat when the driving conditions determined in 5.2.1 are met.
5.3 Duration of the test
The duration of the first level of the reminder test shall be at least the minimum time specified in 4.2.3. The second level of reminder test may be started after the first level of reminder test has been completed, but the function of the second level of reminder in lieu of the first level of reminder as specified in 4.2.4.4 shall be checked.
