1 Scope
This standard specifies definitions, indicator signal and technical requirements for safety belt reminder for motor vehicles.
This standard is applicable to safety belt reminder at the position of driver seat and/or front row passenger seat in M1 type motor vehicle. Safety belt reminder at other seats of M1 type motor vehicle and other types may refer to it.

3 Terms and Definitions
For the purposes of this standard, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
Safety belt reminder
A system reminding the passenger in a vehicle when his safety belt is not fastened. It consists of sensor detecting not fastened safety belt, first alert level and/or second alert level.
3.2
First alert level
Visual signal activated on the condition that the safety belt of passenger is not fastened; audible signal may be added.
3.3
Second alert level
Visual signal and audible signal activated on the condition that the safety belt of passenger is not fastened.
3.4
Safety-belt is not fastened
Belt fastener of the safety belt of passenger is not inserted in belt fastener lock or the length of the braid pulled out of retractor not exceeds 100mm.
4 Requirements
If the safety belt of passenger is not fastened, the following requirement shall be met:
4.1 First alert level: Visual signal shall be activated on the condition that the ignition switch in "on" position (regardless of the running state of the motor); the duration shall not be less than 4s. The visual signal shall be bright enough to be distinct and visible in sunlight, and shall be different from other reminding signals. The sign of the visual signal is as shown in Figure 1. The display color shall be red and the sign shall meet the requirements of Article 5.2.9 in GB 4094-1999.
