1 Scope and object
This standard specifies the seismic qualification for high-voltage switchgear and controlgear, and defines the principle to verify the anti-seismic characteristic by adopting analytical methods, test methods or a combination of both.
It is applicable to all indoor and outdoor high-voltage switchgear and controlgear operated in power systems with a nominal voltage of 3kV or above and a frequency of 50Hz or below, including its supporting frame rigidly connected to the ground.
If the switchgear and controlgear are not mounted on the ground, for example, mounted in a building, the applicable conditions shall be based on the agreement between the user and the manufacturer.
As for the seismic qualifications of switchgear and controlgear (whether integrally mounted or separately mounted), all auxiliary equipment and controlgear are considered.
This standard provides test procedures for verifying the anti-seismic characteristic of ground-mounted high-voltage switchgear and control equipment.
If applicable, the anti-seismic characteristic of switchgear and controlgear shall be verified.
This standard also specifies the ground acceleration level of anti-seismic characteristic, and provides alternative methods suitable for verifying the performance of switchgear and controlgear requiring anti-seismic ability.
