1 Scope
This standard specifies technical specifications, test procedure and inspection rules of photometric characteristics of front and rear position lamps, end-outline marker lamps and stop lamps for motor vehicles and their trailers
This standard is applicable to all kinds of front and rear position lamps, end-outline marker lamps and stop lamps for motor vehicles and their trailers of category M, N and O. In this standard, all kinds of signal lamps above are also called devices.

3 Terms and Definitions
The terms and definitions which are established in GB 4785 are applicable to this standard.
4 Different Types of Devices
Devices different in the following aspects:
a) The trade name or mark;
b) The characteristics of the optical system, (levels of intensity, light distribution angles, category of filament lamp, light source module, etc.)
c) The system used to reduce illumination at night-in the case of stop lamps with two levels of intensity.
A change of the colour of the filament lamp or the colour of any filter does not constitute a change of type.
