1 General provisions
1.0.1 This code is developed with a view to making the design of wastewater treatment engineering in petrochemical industry meet the relevant laws and regulations of the nation, preventing water pollution, improving and protecting environment and guaranteeing the people's health and safety.
1.0.2 This code is applicable to the design of constructed, renovated and extended wastewater treatment engineering in petrochemical industry.
1.0.3 The design of wastewater treatment engineering in petrochemical industry shall embody the principle of water-saving and emission reduction, energy conservation and consumption reduction as well as environmental protection, and shall be reliable in operation, reasonable in economy and advanced in technique.
1.0.4 The design of wastewater treatment engineering in petrochemical industry shall meet those specified in both this code and the current relevant standards of the nation.

oily wastewater
polluted process wastewater containing floating oil, dispersed oil, emulsified oil and soluble oil discharged from petrochemical plant, unit, etc.

spent caustic
waste lye of gasoline, diesel, liquefied petroleum gas and ethylene cracking gas after caustic wash

sour wastewater
polluted process wastewater containing sulfide after the product undergoing separation, dewatering or desulfurization by washing

accidental drainage
material leaked and wastewater produced when accident occurs or in the process of accident handling

polluted rainwater
rainwater polluted by material and failing to meet the standard for discharge

reclaimed water
water derived from wastewater which, after being properly treated, reaches certain quality standard and meets certain requirements for use

3 Wastewater quantity and quality for design
3.1 Wastewater quantity for design
3.1.1 Wastewater quantity for design shall include polluted process wastewater quantity, domestic wastewater quantity, polluted rainwater quantity and unforeseen wastewater quantity. Various wastewater quantities shall be determined according to the following requirements:
1 The polluted process wastewater quantity shall be comprehensively determined according to consecutive hourly water drainage quantity and intermittent hourly water drainage quantity from plants (units).
2 The domestic wastewater quantity shall comply with the relevant provisions of current national standard GB 50014 Code for design of outdoor wastewater engineering.
3 The volume of polluted rainwater storage facility should be the product of the polluted zone area and the rainfall depth and may be calculated using the following equation:
