1 General Provisions
1.0.1 This standard is formulated with a view to implementing national laws, regulations and technical and economic policies during lighting design at outdoor work places, satisfying the functions of outdoor work places, facilitating visual task and visual comfort, improving work efficiency as well as guaranteeing use safety, economic rationality, advanced technology, convenient maintenance management and green lights.
1.0.2 This standard is applicable to the lighting design in such outdoor work places as newly-built, renovated and extended airports, railway stations and fields, harbours and wharfs, shipyards, petrochemical plants, fuel filling stations, power plants, transformer substations, energetics and heat plants, building sites, parking areas, water supply and sewage treatment plants.
1.0.3 The lighting design at outdoor work places shall meet not only the requirements of this standard, but also those specified in the current relevant ones of the nation.
2 Terms
2.0.1 Green lights
The lighting which can conserve energy, protect environment as well as physical and mental health, and be beneficial to improve people's production, working and learning efficiency and quality of life.
2.0.2 Visual task
The process to observe the details and objectives presented in front of the background during working and activities.
2.0.3 Luminous flux
Photometric quantity derived from radiation flux according to the effect of radiation on CIE standard photometric observer.
2.0.4 Luminous intensity
The luminous intensity of luminophor in assigned direction is the quotient of the transmissive luminous flux dФ within solid angle element (dΩ) in this direction divided by such solid angle element, namely the luminous flux of unit solid angle.
2.0.5 Luminance
Luminous intensity on unit projected area.
2.0.6 Illuminance
The illuminance of a point on the surface is the quotient of the luminous flux dФ incident on the surface element containing the point divided by the surface element area dA.
2.0.7 Maintained average illuminance
The average illuminance on the specified surface when the lighting device must be maintained.
2.0.8 Reference surface
The surface for measuring or specifying the illuminance.
2.0.9 Working plane
Plane on whose surface the work is conducted.
2.0.10 Luminance contrast
Ratio of the luminance difference between recognized objective in visual field and background to the background luminance.
2.0.11 Maintenance factor
Ratio of the average illuminance or average luminance on the specified surface after a certain application period of lighting device to the average illuminance or average luminance on this specified surface when this device is newly assembled under the same condition.
2.0.12 General lighting
The uniform lighting set for illuminating the whole site.
2.0.13 Localized lighting
General lighting designed into different illuminances to illuminate a certain specific area, such as working place.
2.0.14 Local lighting
Lighting used for the specific visual working and set for illuminating a certain part.
2.0.15 Mixed lighting
Lighting composed of general lighting and local lighting.
2.0.16 Flood lighting
Lighting adopting spot light to illuminate a certain scene or objective to make its illuminance obviously higher than the surrounding illuminance.
2.0.17 Normal lighting
Lighting used under normal conditions.
