3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
horizontal lifeline device
device consisting of flexible guide rail made of steel wire rope, fiber rope, webbing, etc. or rigid guide rail made of stainless steel, aluminum alloy, etc., which is fixed by two or more anchors, with the horizontal angle of the connecting line between any two anchors not more than 15°, and is used for connecting fall protection equipment and attachments (fixing facilities such as walls, floors and scaffolds)
Note: The horizontal lifeline device is classified by guide rails used into flexible horizontal lifeline device and rigid horizontal lifeline device (Figure 1).
3.2
horizontal lifeline system
system consisting of horizontal lifeline device and other fall protection equipment used together
3.3
end anchor
fixture on buildings or structures for connecting
Note: It is used to connect with the end anchor of the guide rail.
3.4
end anchor connector
component used to connect the guide rail with the end anchor
3.5
intermediate anchor
anchors for fixing guide rails other than the end anchor
3.6
intermediate anchor connector
component used to connect the guide rail with the intermediate anchor
3.7
mobile attachment device
device capable of sliding along a guide rail and used to connect to fall protection equipment
3.8
horizontal lifeline energy absorber
device connected to guide rail or mobile attachment device to absorb impact force when a fall occurs
3.9
maximum arrest force
maximum value of impact force measured at the mobile attachment device during the dynamic test
3.10
maximum arrest load
maximum value of impact force measured at the horizontal lifeline anchor during the dynamic test
3.11
minimum clearance
minimum vertical distance between the lowest falling point of the test object and the highest obstacle on the ground, which is to ensure that the user does not collide with the highest obstacle on the ground during the falling process
Note: see Figure 2.
3.12
fall distance
maximum vertical displacement of the mobile attachment device during the dynamic test on the horizontal lifeline device
3.13
total fall distance
maximum vertical distance from the free fall to the end of the fall of the weight during the dynamic test on the horizontal lifeline system
