Use guide of aerial devices with insulating booms for live-working
1 Scope
This standard specifies the use, care, maintenance and test requirements of aerial devices with insulating booms for live-working.
This standard is applicable to aerial devices with insulating booms for live-working under AC 10 kV ~ 500 kV.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 2900.55 and GB/T 14286 and the following apply.

Note: Aerial devices with insulating booms for live distribution work are generally equipped with insulated working buckets, while aerial devices with insulating booms for live transmission work are generally equipped with metal working buckets.

4 General requirements
4.1 Operators of aerial devices with insulating booms shall be familiar with the structural principle and performance of the aerial devices with insulating booms, take the theoretical and operational training of specialized training institutions, pass the examination and obtain the job certificate.
4.2 The aerial devices with insulating booms shall be tested, inspected, cared and maintained periodically during its service. The care and maintenance period may be determined according to the use frequency and environmental impact (such as pollution and weather conditions, etc.), and may also be implemented on the basis of the manufacturer's recommendations.
4.3 The aerial devices with insulating booms used in areas with an altitude over 1,000m shall be provided with the performance of not stalling during running and operating on plateau.
5 Use of aerial devices with insulating booms
5.1 If aerial devices are used in the areas with an altitude of 1,000m and below, the minimum effective insulation length of insulating boom shall be greater than those specified in Table 1; and if aerial devices are used in the areas with an altitude over 1,000m, the minimum effective insulation length of insulating booms shall be revised according to the altitude of the operation area.

5.2 The aerial devices with insulating booms for live-working of 110 kV and above transmission lines shall be equipped with leakage current monitoring device.
5.3 The working position of the aerial devices with insulating booms shall be properly selected, the support shall be stable and reliable, and anti-overturning measures shall be taken. Before use, carry out trial operation with empty bucket at the predetermined position to confirm that the hydraulic transmission, rotation, lifting and expansion systems work normally, operate flexibly, and the braking device is reliable. For live-working on transmission line of 110kV and above, the aerial device shall contact the live body for 5min with empty bucket, and the maximum leakage current shall not exceed 500μA. Manned operation can only be carried out after the trial operation meets the requirements.
5.4 Operators of aerial devices with insulating booms shall obey the command of the person in charge, and pay attention to the surrounding environment and operating speed during operation. In the process of operation, the engine of the aerial devices with insulating booms shall not be turned off (except the electric drive type). The approaching or leaving live parts shall be operated by the personnel in the working bucket, but the operators in the lower parts shall not leave the console.
5.5 When using aerial devices with insulating booms for live working, operators shall carefully and smoothly operate the working bucket and working boom. Impact movement shall be avoided.
5.6 The distance between the metal part of the lower section of the insulating boom and the live body during lifting and rotating shall be increased by 0.5m on the basis of the minimum safety distance for live working. In the process of operation, the operator shall not contact the metal body between the upper and lower insulation sections of the insulating boom with upper and lower insulation sections connected with metal in the middle. The vehicle body shall be well grounded during work.
5.7 If the working tools and equipment are required to be temporarily stored in the working bucket, these items should not exceed the edge of the working bucket and be taken out of the bucket after the operation.
5.8 The aerial devices with insulating booms shall not be used for propulsion and excavation, and the wires or other equipment shall not be placed on the edge of the working bucket.
5.9 The bearing load of the aerial devices with insulating booms during working shall not exceed the rated load, and the moment borne by the vehicle shall not exceed the anti-overturning moment.
6 Maintenance of insulating components
6.1 Cleaning
6.1.1 The insulating components of the aerial devices with insulating booms shall be kept clean.
6.1.2 Minor soiling on the surface of insulating components may be removed with a lint-free cloth, and heavier soiling may be removed by spraying proper solvent. Wipes with burr or grinding function shall not be used to clean the insulating components.
Note: Proper solvents refer to detergents that may effectively remove soiling without damaging the insulation performance of insulating components, such as isopropanol [(CH3)2CHOH].
6.1.3 In case of stains on insulating components, high-pressure hot water with water temperature not exceeding 50℃ and pressure not exceeding 690kPa may be used for flushing.
6.2 Silicon coating or waxing
6.2.1 The surface of insulating components shall be coated with silicon or waxed after cleaning and drying.
6.2.2 During coating, a clean lint-free cloth dipped with silicon or wax may be used to gently brush, or spraying locally may be adopted, and the accumulated silicon material or wax shall be wiped off during spraying.
6.2.3 The silicon coating or wax on the surface of insulating components may be removed with special tools or solvents.
