1 Scope
This standard specifies the surface color and mark on equipment, pipe and steel structure in petrochemical industry, which is convenient for operation and overhaul and promotes safe production as well as beautifies the plant appearance.
This standard is applicable to the surface color and mark on equipment, pipe and steel structure in constructed, expanded and renovated petrochemical devices. Other devices in the petrochemical plant may refer to this standard.
This standard is not applicable to safety color and safety mark.

3 Terms and Definitions
For the purpose of this standard, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
Surface
It refers to the external surface of equipment and pipe without heat insulation or the external surface of protection layer of heat insulated equipment and pipe as well as steel structure surface.
3.2
Surface color
It refers to the color coated on above surface.
3.3
Mark
It refers to the mark related to such information as equipment location number, pipe number, medium name or code number and flow direction arrow brushed within the local scope of external surface of equipment and pipe or adopting tagging form.
4 General Requirements
4.1 The equipment and pipe made of such materials as nonferrous metals, stainless steel, ceramics and plastic (including glass reinforced plastic) or whose surface has been treated with enameling and galvanizing should maintain the natural color of materials and the surface color shall not be brushed again, but the marks shall be provided.
4.2 The surface color shall not be brushed again for the surface of equipment and pipe (position) which has been brushed with thermoindicator paint, but the marks shall be provided which shall not obstruct the observation for thermoindicator paint.
4.3 The surface color should not be brushed for the outside of thick fire retardant paint; if the painting is required for corrosion protection, the color harmonious with the steel structure paint may be adopted according to the those specified in Chapter 7.
4.4 The external protective layer of the heat insulating metal shall not be brushed with color, but shall be provided with marks.
4.5 When two surface colors are available, the surface colors shall be consistent in the same plant.
4.6 If it is difficulty to brush the marks on the pipe with external diameter or external diameter of protective layer less than or equal to 50mm, the mark board may be adopted.
4.7 The hoisting transport machinery and equipments for machine maintenance, electricity maintenance and meter maintenance should maintain the factory color.
