This standard specifies terms and definitions, types and main parameters, specifications, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation and storage for hydraulic mining excavator(s) (hereinafter referred to “excavator(s)”).
This standard is applicable to the hydraulic excavators used for open-pit mining or earthwork, with working mass greater than 200 t.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions specified in GB/T 8498 and GB/T 6572 and the following apply.

hydraulic mining excavator
super-large hydraulic excavator suitable for excavating materials or earthwork in open-pit mines, with its main action driven by hydraulic system, with the functions of excavating materials, slewing, unloading and running, and with its working mass greater than 200 t

standard capacity
bucket capacity suitable for operating in the material with the loose density of 1,800 kg/m3
4 Types and main parameters
4.1 Types
Excavators may be classified into two types: electric motor drive type and diesel engine drive type according to the type of prime mover.
Excavators may be classified into two types: forward shovel type (see Figure 1) and backhoe type (see Figure 2) according to the type of working device.
