This standard is developed in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard replaces GB/T 4423-2007 Copper and copper alloy cold-drawn rod and bar, and the following main technical changes have been made with respect to GB/T 4423-2007.
——The application scope is modified (see Clause 1 herein and Clause 1 of 2007 Edition);
——The state representation method is modified and the code name is added (see Table 1 herein and Table 1 of 2007 edition);
The designation of H59, H70, HSn704, HA161-4-3-1 is added and the designation of QSil.8 is deleted (see Table 1 herein and Table 1 of 2007 edition);
——The specification range of some designations is increased (see Table 1);
——T2 and T3 semi-hard (H02), H65 semi-hard (H02), HPb59-1 hard (H04), HPb63-3 softening annealing (O60) and 1/4 hard (H01) is added (see Table 1);
——The provision of unspecified length of rod and bar is deleted, and the provision of rod and bar length, ranging from 500mm~6 000mm, is added (see Table 1 herein and Table 1 of 2007 edition);
——The tolerance requirements of copper and brass rectangular rod and bars is modified to be the same as that of square and regular hexagonal bars (see Table 4 herein and Table 4 of 2007 edition);
——The tolerance for specified or multiple length of rod and bar is modified from +15mm to +10mm (see 4.2.3 herein and 3.3.3 of 2007 Edition).
——The straightness requirement is modified (see 4.2 herein and 3.3.6 of 2007 edition);
——Some mechanical performance indexes are modified(see 4.3 herein and 3.4 of 2007 edition);
——The Brinell hardness in the mechanical properties table is modified to Vickers hardness, Rockwell hardness and Brinell hardness, and the specified plastic elongation strength requirements are added (see Tables 8 and 9 herein and Tables 7 and 8 in the 2007 edition);
——The oxygen content requirement is deleted (see 3.6 of 2007 edition).
——The measurement method of overall dimensions of rod and bar is modified (see 5.2 herein and 4.2 of 2007 edition);
——Annex A is deleted (see Annex A of 2007 edition).

Copper and copper alloy cold-drawn rod and bar
1 Scope
This standard specifies the classification and labeling, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, markings, packaging, transportation, storage, quality certificates, and purchase orders (or contracts) of copper and copper alloy cold-drawn rod and bar.
This standard applies to round, rectangular, square and hexagonal copper and copper alloy cold-drawn rod and bar for general use (hereinafter referred to as rod and bar).

3.1 Product classification
The designation, code, state and specification of rod and bar shall meet those specified in Table 1. The width-height ratio of rectangular bars shall meet those specified in Table 2.

3.2 Product labeling
A product shall be labeled in the order of product name, standard number, designation (or code), state, precision level and specification. See Figure 1 for the schematic diagram of section shape of rod and bar, and its labeling example is as follows:

Example 1: a round copper rod made of TP2 (C12200), which is supplied in hard (HO4), ordinary grade, with diameter of 19mm and length of 3 000mm is labeled as follows:

4 Technical requirements
4.1 Chemical composition
Chemical composition of rod and bar of H96 designation shall meet those specified in Table 3, while that of other designations shall meet those specified of GB/T 5231.

4.2 Dimension and tolerance
4.2.1 Diameter (or across flat) and its tolerance
The diameter (or across flat) and tolerance of copper and brass rod and bar shall meet those specified in Table 4, and the diameter (or across flat) and tolerance of bronze and white copper rod and bar shall meet those specified in Table 5.
