1 Scope
This standard specifies the test method for hydroscopicity of towel product.
This standard is applicable to various woven towel products with textile fibre as raw material.

3 Principles
3.1 Method A - sedimentation method: the sample is washed in water, dried and conditioned, and then time required for the sample to be completely wetted and begins to sink since it contacts the water surface is determined.
3.2 Method B - absorption method: the sample is washed in water, dried and conditioned, a certain amount of water flows through the sample within a specified period of time under the standard conditions, and then the percentage of water absorbed by the sample and the original water amount is determined.
4 Apparatuses and Materials
4.1 Automatic washing machine: Type A washing machine meeting the requirements of GB/T 8629 -- load in front door, horizontal roller.
Note: Other instruments which have been proven to be capable of obtaining the same test results may also be used.
4.2 Rotary tumble dryer: tumble dryer meeting the requirements of GB/T 8629 and used together with Type A washing machine.
