This standard is developed in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard replaces GB/T 19249-2003 Reverse osmosis water treatment equipment. The following main technical changes have been made with respect to GB/T 19249-2003:
——Some terms and definitions such as flux are added;
——The general requirements and technical requirements of equipment are modified;
——The test methods for equipment are modified;
——The inspection rules for equipment are modified.
This standard was proposed by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of the People's Republic of China.
This standard is under the jurisdiction of National Technical Committee on Town Water Supply and Drainage of Standardization Administration of China (TC 434).
The previous edition of this standard is as follows:
——GB/T 19249-2003.
Reverse osmosis water treatment equipment
1 Scope
This standard specifies the terms and definitions, classification and models, requirements, test methods, inspection rules as well as marking, packaging, transportation and storage of reverse osmosis water treatment equipment (hereinafter referred to as equipment).
This standard is applicable to the equipment for desalting, purification and separation of water by using reverse osmosis membrane (spiral wound type and disk tube type) technology.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this standard, the following terms and definitions and those given in GB/T 20103 apply. For the convenience of application, some terms and definitions in GB/T 20103 are re-listed as follows.
3.1
reverse osmosis; RO
process of solvent (such as water) entering the low pressure side of the membrane through the semi-permeable membrane under the pressure higher than osmotic pressure difference, leaving other components (such as salt) in the solution blocked at the high pressure side of the membrane and discharged with the concentrated solution, thus achieving an effective separation
[GB/T 20103-2006, definition 4.2.2]
3.2
reverse osmosis membrane
semi-permeable membrane for separating solvent from solute in the reverse osmosis process
[GB/T 20103-2006, definition 4.1.1]
3.3
spiral wound reverse osmosis membrane element
combined member formed by reverse osmosis membrane and porous and reticulated spacer layer by winding around the axis and water collection pipe according to certain technical requirements
3.4
disk tube reverse osmosis membrane module
disk tube membrane module formed by stacking the diaphragm and the guide disk together, fixing them with center link and end cover flange, and then placing them in the pressure-resistant shell. It is mainly composed of reverse osmosis membrane, guide disk, center link, shell, various sealing elements of flanges at both ends and connecting bolts
3.5
salt rejection
value indicating the desalination efficiency of the equipment
3.6
permeate
product water obtained after treatment by reverse osmosis device
3.7
productivity
amount of product water produced by membrane elements, modules or devices per unit time under specified operating conditions
[GB/T 20103-2006, definition 2.2.10]
3.8
water recovery
percentage of productivity to total feed water
[GB/T 20103-2006, definition 2.2.12]
3.9
concentrate
condensed water with increased salt content after being treated by reverse osmosis device
3.10
cartridge filter
filter installed in front of the reverse osmosis membrane and equipped a microfiltration element with a filtration accuracy less than or equal to 5μm
3.11
flux
amount of components flowing through per unit area of membrane per unit time
[GB/T 20103-2006, definition 2.1.33]
3.12
stage
configuration method of membrane modules in the membrane device process; it is specified that each feed liquid (feed water) flowing through a group of membrane modules is taken as a stage
[GB/T 20103-2006, definition 4.2.10]
3.13
pass
feed water (or produced water) flowing through a system composed of booster pump and membrane module is taken as a pass
[GB/T 20103-2006, definition 4.2.11]
3.14
stage pressure
difference between the inlet pressure and the outlet (concentrate) pressure of a certain stage
3.15
chemical cleaning
process of removing membrane pollutants by using chemicals
[GB/T 20103-2006, definition 7.2.8]
4 Classification and models
