Test method for evaluating gasoline detergent in use Part 3: Test method for evaluating gasoline detergent produced effect for electronic port fuel injector(PFI) fouling
1 Scope
This part specifies the test method for evaluating gasoline detergent produced effect for electronic port fuel injector (PFI) fouling.
This part is applicable to the evaluation of gasoline detergent, vehicle gasoline and its component oil on the detergency of electronic port fuel injector (PFI).
Note: This test method is only applicable to evaluate the deposit control performance of gasoline detergent in the top area of the electronic port fuel injector.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this part, the following term and definition apply.
3.1
cycle
15s pulsing period, followed by a 50 min heating period at 160°C, followed by a 10 min cool-down period
3.2
electronic port fuel injector (PFI)
injection device used to control fuel flow into the combustion chamber
3.3
fouling
formation of carbonaceous deposits on the pintle or metering surfaces of an electronic port fuel injector, which reduces fuel flow
3.4
pintle
needle-like metering device extending beyond the electronic port fuel injector body that is part of an electronic port, which controls flow rate and spray pattern
