This method is applicable to determining the solidification point of petroleum products
The maximum temperature for cooling the lubricating oil and dark petroleum products until the liquid level unmoved under test condition is referred to as solidification point.
1 Summary of Test Method
Measuring method: put the sample in the specified test tube and cool it to the expected temperature, incline the test tube at 45° for 1min, and observe whether the liquid level moves or not.
2 Apparatus and Material
2.1 Apparatus
2.1.1 Test tube with a rounded bottom: height: 160±10mm; inner diameter: 20±1mm; there is one annular marked line at the external wall where is 30mm away from the tube bottom.
2.1.2 Glass sleeve with a rounded bottom: height: 130±10mm; inner diameter: 40±2mm.
2.1.3 Wild-mouth thermos bottle or cylindrical vessel used for filling cooling agent: of height at least 160mm, with inner diameter of at least 120mm, which may be made of ceramic, glass, wood, or iron sheet with insulating layer.
2.1.4 Mercurial thermometer: meeting the requirements of "Liquid in Glass Thermometers for Petroleum Products - Specification" (GB 514-75), applied for determining petroleum products with solidification point larger than -35℃.
2.1.5 Liquid in glass thermometer: meeting the requirements of GB 514-75, applied for determining petroleum products with solidification point less than -35℃.
2.1.6 Thermometer of any type: used for measuring the coolant temperature.
2.1.7 Support: it refers to the device can fix the sleeve, coolant vessel and thermometer.
2.1.8 Water bath.
