GB 4806.7:2023 National food safety standard - Food contact plastic materials and articles
1 Scope
This standard applies to food contact plastic materials and articles, including unvulcanized thermoplastic elastomer materials and articles.
This standard also applies to the food contact starch-based plastic materials and articles.
2 Terms and definitions
2.1
resin
macromolecular substance synthesized by addition polymerization, condensation polymerization, microbial fermentation polymerization and other polymerization reactions with corresponding monomer and other starting materials as main raw materials, as well as chemically modified natural or synthetic macromolecular substance, which is also known as the polymer
2.2
resin blend
macroscopically uniform and continuous solid polymer material which is blended with two or more polymers with the same or different chemical structures and physical states by physical and/or chemical methods, in which each polymer can be used as the main structural constituent or phase of resin materials and articles, which is also known as polymer alloy
2.3
plastic materials
polymer materials between resin and plastic articles made by taking one or several resins (including resin blends) or their premixes and prepolymers as main structural constituents, adding necessary additives and processing under certain temperature and pressure, including plastic granules (or chips), powders, masterbatch, sheets and other plastic materials
2.4
plastic articles
finished food contact articles (or final products) with certain shape which are processed by taking resin (containing resin blend) or plastic materials as raw materials and adding necessary additives
2.5
masterbatch
condensate made by overloading additives (such as colorants, fillers, reinforcers, stabilizers, etc.) that affect the physical properties of plastic materials and articles in one or several resins, and can be processed into other plastic materials and articles by blending with resin or plastic materials
3 Basic requirements
The food contact plastic materials and articles shall meet the requirements of GB 4806.1.
4 Technical requirements
4.1 Requirements for raw materials
4.1.1 The use of resins in food contact plastic materials and articles shall meet the requirements of Annex A and relevant announcements.
4.1.2 The use of additives (including plant fiber fillers) in food contact plastic materials and articles shall meet the requirements of GB 9685 and relevant announcements.
4.1.3 The starch used in the food contact starch-based plastic materials and articles shall be edible starch or modified starch. Edible starch shall meet the requirements of GB 31637. Modified starch shall be of the variety approved by GB 2760 and relevant announcements, and its quality specifications shall meet the requirements of corresponding national food safety standards.
4.2 Sensory requirements
The sensory requirements of food contact plastic materials and articles shall meet those specified in Table 1.
Table 1 Sensory requirements
Item Requirement
Sense Have normal color and luster, and free of abnormal odor, impurity, etc.
Soaking solution The soaking solution obtained from migration test has no deterioration of sensory properties such as turbidity, precipitation and odor
4.3 Physical and chemical indexes
4.3.1 General physical and chemical indexes
The general physical and chemical indexes of food contact plastic materials and articles shall meet those specified in Table 2.
Table 2 General physical and chemical indexes a
4.3.2 Other physical and chemical indexes
4.3.2.1 Food contact plastic materials and articles shall meet the requirements of Annex A and relevant announcements on physical and chemical indexes such as specific migration limit (SML), total specific migration limit [SML(T)] and maximum permitted quantity (QM) of monomer and other starting materials of plastic resins used.
4.3.2.2 Food contact plastic materials and articles shall meet the requirements of GB 9685 and relevant announcements on physical and chemical indexes such as SML, SML(T), QM of additives used.
4.4 Other technical requirements
The food contact plastic materials and articles using coatings, inks and/or adhesives shall also meet the corresponding national food safety standards for coatings, inks and/or adhesives.
