GB 39732-2020 Vehicle event data recorder system
1 Scope
This standard specifies the terms and definitions, technical requirements, test methods and requirements, appearance and identification, extension of vehicle type, and instructions of vehicle event data recorder system for vehicles of category M1.
This standard is applicable to vehicles of category M1 installed with vehicle event data recorder systems, and may serve as a reference for other vehicles.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB 14166 and the following apply.
3.1
impact event
impact or other physical event that reaches or exceeds the trigger threshold, or any other event that results in the deployment of the non-reversible restraint, whichever occurs first
3.2
vehicle event data recorder system; EDR
device or system consisting of one or more on-board electronic modules and having the functions of monitoring, collecting and recording data of a vehicle and an occupant protection system before, during and after an impact event
3.3
EDR controller
on-board electronic module for monitoring, collecting and recording time series data during an impact event
3.4
lateral acceleration
Y-component of the acceleration vector at a point on the vehicle
Note: When the driver sits in the vehicle and faces the driving direction of the vehicle, the positive direction of lateral acceleration is from left to right from the driver's point of view, as shown in Figure 1.
Figure 1 Vehicle coordinate system
3.5
longitudinal acceleration
X-component of the acceleration vector at a point on the vehicle
Note: The forward driving direction of the vehicle is the positive direction of the longitudinal acceleration, as shown in Figure 1.
3.6
normal acceleration
Z-component of the acceleration vector at a point on the vehicle
Note: The downward direction is the positive direction of normal acceleration, as shown in Figure 1.
3.7
change in velocity
delta-V
vector difference between the velocity of vehicle before the impact and that after the impact. The calculation formula of delta-V is:
where,
i——the serial number of the time series sampling point;
G——the acceleration, which is expressed as g (g=9.81m/s2).
3.8
EDR record
time series data stored in one or more specific ECUs recording the EDR data after an impact event is triggered
3.9
trigger threshold
conditions under which an EDR record is reached
3.10
locked event
an event included in an EDR record that satisfies the locking condition and cannot be overwritten by subsequent events
