Safety code of practice for coating - Safety for electrostatic powder coating process
1 Scope
This document specifies the basic safety requirements for electrostatic powder coating process, such as basic requirements, powder coating equipment and its auxiliary devices, ventilation and purification, storage and transportation of powder paint, and operation and maintenance safety management.
This document is applicable to the design of electrostatic powder coating process and the design, installation, operation, maintenance and management of its equipment, as well as the acceptance of electrostatic powder coating works. It also serves as a reference for fluidized bed electrostatic coating, fluidized bed coating and other fluidized coating methods.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 14441 and the following apply.
3.1
powder feeder
device capable of continuously and uniformly feeding powder paint for coating
3.2
powder recovery unit
device for collecting uncoated powder, which is capable of separating the powder and gas and controlling the concentration of powder-containing air at its inlet to be less than 50% of its lower explosion limit
3.3
after filter
device for capturing fine powder which is difficult to be captured by powder recovery unit and making the discharged gas meet the discharge standard
4 Basic requirements
4.1 Range of powder coating area
The range of powder coating area shall cover:
a) powder coating room, powder feeder (including the powder conveying device, powder silo and discharging device of a circulating powder feeder), powder recovery unit, after filter, fan and powder conveying pipeline connected therewith (including an air duct containing powder);
b) an area within 1m outward in all directions at the opening of the powder coating room;
c) places where powder paints are stored on site (which shall meet the requirements of 7.1);
d) areas such as interior of exhaust duct, interior of auxiliary device and its maintenance structure, and other areas where flammable dust clouds or accumulated dust may be generated.
