SN/T 3780-2014 Textile for import and export - Method for identification of fiber - Banana, pineapple, lotus, coconut and mulberry fiber
1 Scope
This standard specifies the qualitative identification of five types of plant fibers using methods such as microscopic observation, fiber fineness testing, density testing, fiber rotation testing, coloring test, and thermal decomposition testing.
This standard is applicable to the qualitative identification of raw materials of banana fiber, pineapple fiber, lotus fiber, coconut fiber, and mulberry fiber.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 11951 and the following apply.
3.1
banana fiber
fiber extracted from banana stalks
3.2
pineapple fiber
fiber extracted from pineapple leaves
3.3
lotus fiber
fiber extracted from lotus stalks
3.4
coconut fiber
fiber obtained from the outer shell of coconuts
3.5
mulberry fiber
bast-type fiber obtained from the bark of mulberry trees
3.6
main decomposition temperature
temperature corresponding to the peak point on the derivative thermogravimetric (DTG) curve
4 Principle
Based on the distinct physical and chemical properties of the five types of plant fibers, different analytical methods are adopted to test the samples. The test results are then compared with relevant technical characteristics to identify the five types of plant fibers.
