1 Scope
This part specifies the manufacturing, chemical composition, mechanical properties, testing, and examination requirements for materials used in main bolts, nuts, and washers for Class 1 components in pressurized water reactor nuclear power plants.
This part is applicable to forged nickel-chromium-molybdenum steel bars with or without vanadium, designations 40CrNi2MoV and 40CrNi2Mo, with a nominal diameter not exceeding 300 mm, used for main bolts, nuts, and washers for reactor pressure vessels, as well as for bolts and nuts for reactor coolant pump volutes and screws for No.1 seal housings in pressurized water reactor nuclear power plants.
This part may also serve as a reference for manhole bolts and nuts for pressurizers and bolt fasteners for steam generators.

3 Manufacturing
3.1 Manufacturing process specification
Before starting manufacture, the manufacturer shall establish a manufacturing process specification covering the following main contents:
——Steel smelting method;
——Weight and type of steel ingot;
——Percentage of cropping for the head and tail of the steel ingot;
——Location of the forged bar in the steel ingot;
——Diameter of the forged bar during heat treatment and diameter in the delivery condition;
——Processes for intermediate heat treatment, property heat treatment and subsequent stabilization heat treatment;
