3.1 energy efficiency index (EEI)
A parameter used to determine the energy efficiency of a plate heat exchanger, which integrates the heat transfer and flow resistance performance of the plate heat exchanger, is based on the first law of thermodynamics, and is determined by methods such as data collation and statistics from testing.
Note: The English abbreviation and parameter symbol is EEI.
4 Symbols and units
The symbols and units listed in Table 1 apply to this document.
5 Basic requirements
5.1 Test platform
5.1.1 The platform for conducting energy efficiency testing of plate heat exchangers shall have a fixed test site and supporting conditions such as water, electricity, heat source and cold source. The test system shall comply with the requirements of GB/T 27698.1. The test fluid shall be clean fresh water, and the test shall be carried out under waterwater, nonphasechange, counterflow test conditions. The flow rates of the cold and hot fluids in the test system shall meet the flow rate range requirements for plate heat exchanger testing. The test conditions shall be adjustable and capable of remaining stable, and the test data shall be accurate, reliable, and capable of being automatically collected and stored.
5.1.2 The accuracy of pressure and differential pressure measuring instruments shall be no less than Class 0.2; the accuracy of flow measuring instruments shall be no less than Class 0.5; the tolerance of fluid temperature measuring instruments shall not exceed ±0.5 °C. Measuring instruments shall be used within their verification (calibration) validity period.
5.2 Testing and evaluation body
A body engaged in the energy efficiency testing and evaluation of plate heat exchangers shall have the capability to verify the structural parameters of plate heat exchanger plates and the capability to conduct energy efficiency testing and evaluation. It shall be equipped with the instruments, equipment and personnel necessary for heat exchanger energy efficiency testing and evaluation, strictly control the quality of energy efficiency testing, and be responsible for the accuracy, impartiality and traceability of test results.
6 Preparation of test product
6.1 The test product shall comply with the requirements of the corresponding product standards. To enable the test results to reflect the actual operating characteristics of the heat exchanger, the number of plates in the plate heat exchanger under test shall be no less than 17.
6.2 When conducting energy efficiency testing and evaluation of a plate heat exchanger, the product model and at least the following parameters shall be included:
a)Plate corrugation parameters (corrugation angle, corrugation depth, corrugation pitch, mixing angle and mixing ratio);
b)Plate geometric dimensions [length, width, port diameter (or equivalent port diameter), longitudinal and transverse centre distances];
c) Single plate heat transfer area;
d) Plate spacing;
e) Plate thickness;
f) Flow arrangement (singleside flow or diagonal flow);
g) Plate material;
h) Flow crosssectional area;
i) Number of plates;
j) Pass arrangement.
6.3 When the product model or any of the parameters in 6.2 a) to f) changes, the energy efficiency testing and evaluation shall be repeated.
