Sharp Edge Test Method for Engineering Analysis of Consumer Goods Defect
1 Scope
Document describes test methods and analysis of results for the sharpness of palpable edges on consumer products.
This standard applies to natural stone and synthetic stone for building decoration and adhesives and protective agents used in production. This document is suitable for defect investigation and analysis of consumer products. In application scenarios such as design, production, installation, use and maintenance of consumer goods
The sharp edge test is performed with reference.
This document is not applicable to testing functional sharp edges of consumer products.
2 Normative reference documents
The contents of the following documents constitute the essential provisions of this document through normative references in the text. Among them, for the referenced document with a date, only the version corresponding to that date is applicable to this document; The latest version of the undated referenced document (including all amendments) is applicable to this document.
GB 6675.2 Toy safety-part 2: mechanical and physical properties
GB/T 16842 Test tool for protective inspection of enclosures against people and equipment
3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1
detachable part
parts or components of consumer goods that require consumers to assemble themselves or can be removed or opened without tools, or that require tools to be removed as required in the instructions for use
Note: Includes detachable parts specified in product standards
3.2
accessible edge
edges reachable by fingers during normal use and foreseeable reasonable abuse
3.3
sharp edge sharp edge
palpable edge of injury may occur during normal use and foreseeable reasonable abuse
4 Principle
The touchable probe is used to judge whether the measured edge is a touchable edge. The sharp edge tester covered with three layers of test tape is used to simulate the scene of human skin contacting the edge of consumer goods. After moving the touchable edge of consumer goods at a speed of 0.02 m/s ~ 0.05 m/s for a certain distance, the penetration of the test tape is used to evaluate the sharpness of the edge.
5 Environmental conditions
Environmental conditions and scenarios that simulate the actual use of consumer goods.
6 Instruments and equipment
6.1 Accessible probe
Test tool B of GB/T 16842, accessible probe A and accessible probe B of GB 6675.2.
6.2 Sharp edge tester
The sharp edge tester shall comply with the provisions of Appendix A, and is mainly composed of test head, test rod, control board, pressure sensor, display screen, power supply components and other components. The test rod is fixed on the surface of the pressure sensor with an outer diameter of 6.4 mm; The end of the test rod is a steel cylindrical head (referred to as the test head for short) with an outer diameter of 12.7 mm and a length of 19mm.
6.3 Test Tape
6.3.1 Indicator tape (inner layer): 19.1 mm wide, adhesive backing, single adhesive coating, vinyl foam tape, black, should meet the tape properties specified in Table B.1 of Appendix B.
6.3.2 No. 2 sensing tape (middle layer): 19.1 mm wide, double-adhesive coating, vinyl foam tape, white, should meet the tape properties specified in Table B.1.
6.3.3 No. 1 sensing tape (outer layer): width 19.1 mm, single adhesive coating, tetrafluoroethylene tape, gray-white transparent color, should comply with the tape performance specified in Table B.1.
7 samples
1 piece of consumer product to be tested, including detachable parts. Detachable parts that require consumer self-assembly should be tested prior to assembly.
8 Test Steps
8.1 Determining the Accessible Edge
8.1.1 General rules
During the test, all detachable parts of the consumer product should be removed, and the main body and detachable parts of the consumer product should be determined. In order to minimize the risk of cutting on the sharp edges of consumer goods, strict principles should be adopted to determine the accessible edges.
8.1.2 Determination of palpable edge in adults
Apply a force of 5N to test utensil B in the vertical direction, and extend the probe of test utensil B to the part to be tested of the consumer product or the part to be tested of the detachable part in any way. If the test tool B passes through the opening, it extends to any depth allowed. According to the needs, the probe can be rotated or bent around the axis at any joint to contact the parts or components of consumer goods. If the edge of a part or component of a consumer product can be contacted by any part of the front end of the B-axis shoulder (or limiting surface) of the test tool, the edge is regarded as an accessible edge. The bottom area (excluding the peripheral edges) of consumer goods usually used on the ground and having a mass of more than 40kg is considered inaccessible.
8.1.3 Determination of palpable margins in children
According to Appendix C, judge whether consumer products are easily accessible to children in specific use environments, and the parts easily accessible to children should be
The method specified in GB6675.2 is used for the accessibility test with the accessible probe A and the accessible probe B.
8.2 Sharpness test procedure
8.2.1 The test head of the sharp edge tester should be covered with three layers of adhesive tape. Each layer of adhesive tape should be tightly attached to ensure that there are no bubbles. The order of adhesive tapes from inside to outside is indicator tape, No.2 sensing tape and No.1 sensing tape.
8.2.2 Each layer of adhesive tape should be wrapped at least 90 ° along the circumference of the test head. When fixed to the test head, the adhesive tape should not be stretched, as shown in Figure 1.
