For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 20042.1-2017 and GB/T 28816-2020 as well as the following apply.
3.1
Pt group metal loading
mass of Pt group metals per unit active area of a fuel cell (electrode)
Note 1: This refers to the loading of Pt group metals on the anode or cathode alone, or the total loading on both the anode and cathode;
Note 2: Pt group metals include elements such as platinum (Pt), palladium (Pd), osmium (Os), iridium (Ir), ruthenium (Ru), and rhodium (Rh).
3.2
electrochemical active surface area; ECSA
surface area of the Pt group metal catalyst in a MEA that participates in electrochemical reactions per unit mass, measured using electrochemical methods
Note: The ECSA of a MEA is related to factors such as the electrocatalyst activity and electrode structure of PEMFCs.

3.3
gasket
component designed to create a seal by compressive deforming under applied pressing force
3.4
rated current density
Ie
quotient of the maximum current specified by the manufacturer for continuous operation of a MEA divided by the effective area
3.5
decay ratio
ratio of the change in a measurable characteristic parameter of a MEA after a certain period of operation to its initial value
3.6
voltage reversal
phenomenon in which the potential of the anode is higher than that of the cathode during fuel cell operation
