4 Classification and designations
Bars are classified into the following two categories based on intended processing method:
UP bars for pressure processing;
b) UC bars for cutting processing.
5 Ordering Information
Contracts or orders placed in accordance with this document shall include the following items:
a) Document number of this specification;
b) Product name;
c) Unified digital code (or designation);
d) Weight (or quantity);
e) Dimensions;
f) Manufacturing process (melting method);
g) Delivery condition;
h) Intended use (if not specified, bars shall be for machining purposes by default);
i) Special requirements.
6 Manufacturing Process
6.1 Melting Method
Unless otherwise specified in the contract, the melting method shall be at the supplier's discretion.
6.2 Delivery Condition
Bars shall be delivered in either hot-rolled (or forged) or solution-treated condition, or in hot-rolled (or forged) or solution-treated followed by peeling, grinding, or turning, as specified in the contract.
7 Technical Requirements
7.1 Unified Digital Code (or Designation) and Chemical Composition
7.1.1 The unified digital code (or designation) and chemical composition (as-melted analysis) of the alloy shall comply with Table 1.
7.1.2
The allowable deviation of finished product chemical composition shall comply with GB/T 222.
7.2.2 Mechanical Properties
Bars delivered in solution-treated condition shall have their mechanical properties tested using samples taken from the delivered material. The mechanical properties shall comply with Table 2. For age-hardenable alloys (NS4101, NS4301, NS6500), the test samples shall undergo aging treatment before testing, and their mechanical properties shall comply with Table 3. For bars with a diameter exceeding 80 mm, the mechanical performance criteria shall be agreed upon between the supplier and purchaser.
7.2.3 Sample
The sample shall have a diameter of 25 mm. For bars with a diameter less than 25 mm, the entire bar may be solution-treated or aged directly before testing.
7.3 Low-Magnification Examination
The transverse acid-etched low-magnification samples of bars shall show no visible residual shrinkage cavities, blowholes, inclusions, or cracks.
7.4 Ultrasonic Testing
Bars shall undergo ultrasonic testing. For nominal diameters ≤ 80 mm, the results shall comply with Class A of GB/T 4162—2022. For nominal diameters > 80 mm, the results shall comply with Class B of GB/T 4162—2022.
7.5 Surface Quality
7.5.1 Hot-Rolled (Forged) or Hot-Rolled (Forged) Ground Bars
7.5.1.1 Bars for Pressure Processing
Bars intended for pressure processing shall be free from cracks, folds, laps, inclusions, or
