Bamboo Plywood
1 Scope
This document defines the terms and definitions for bamboo plywood, specifies its classification, technical requirements, inspection rules, product marking, packaging, transportation, and storage, and describes the test methods.
This document applies to ordinary bamboo plywood used in fields such as decoration, renovation, and furniture.
This document does not apply to bamboo plywood for concrete formwork, bamboo plywood for truck carriage flooring, and other bamboo plywood with different structures or special performance requirements.
2 Normative References
The following documents are referred to in the text in such a way that some or all of their content constitutes requirements of this document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document (including any amendments) applies.

3 Terms and Definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 36394-2018 and the following apply.
3.1
lamination
A board of specified width formed by gluing together planed bamboo strips oriented with their grain direction parallel.
3.2
bamboo plywood
A panel made by assembling units such as bamboo veneers, bamboo laminations, flattened bamboo boards, bamboo curtains, bamboo mats, etc., according to the symmetrical construction principle of plywood, followed by pressing.

3.3
defects at the edges of the panel
The phenomenon of edge or corner breakage occurring on the panel.
3.4
imprint
Localized concave or convex marks on the panel surface.
4 Classification
4.1 Classification by service environment:
a) Type I bamboo plywood: Weather-resistant bamboo plywood suitable for outdoor conditions.
b) Type II bamboo plywood: Water-resistant bamboo plywood suitable for humid conditions.
4.2 Classification by surface finishing:
a) Bamboo plywood overlaid with impregnated thermosetting resin paper.
b) Unfinished bamboo plywood.
4.3 Classification by constituent unit type:
a)Bamboo strip type (bamboo mat plywood, bamboo curtain plywood, bamboo mat-curtain plywood).
b) Bamboo lamination type (bamboo strip lumber plywood, bamboo veneer plywood).
c) Bamboo flattened type (flattened bamboo plywood).
5 Technical Requirements
5.1 Grading
Bamboo plywood is classified into two grades based on appearance quality: superior grade and qualified grade.
5.2 Appearance Quality
5.2.1 The appearance quality of unfinished bamboo plywood shall comply with the provisions in Table 1.
5.2.2 The appearance quality of bamboo plywood overlaid with impregnated thermosetting resin paper shall comply with the provisions in Table 2.
5.3 Dimensions and Tolerances
5.3.1 Common Dimensions
Common nominal dimensions for bamboo plywood:
a) Length: 915 mm ~ 2440 mm;
b) Width: 915 mm ~ 1220 mm;
c) Thickness: 2 mm ~ 30 mm.
Note: Special dimensions are subject to agreement between the supplier and the purchaser.
5.3.2 Dimensional Tolerances
5.3.2.1 Permissible tolerances for length and width of bamboo plywood: ±2.5 mm/m, with a maximum permissible tolerance of ±5.0 mm.
5.3.2.2 Permissible tolerances for thickness, flatness, edge straightness, and squareness of bamboo plywood shall comply with the provisions in Table 3.
5.4 Physicochemical Properties
The physicochemical properties shall comply with the provisions in Table 4.
6 Test Methods
6.1 Appearance Quality
6.1.1 Inspect product appearance defects visually or using a steel ruler (graduation value 0.1 mm).
6.1.2 The quantity, cumulative size, or extent of limiting defects shall be calculated based on the average number per square meter of the area of one board. Defects along the width (or length) of the board shall be calculated based on the average number per meter at the most severely affected end. Results shall be rounded to the nearest integer (i.e., when a decimal follows the integer, take the larger adjacent integer).
6.1.3 Determine the grade of the product by inspecting each board for appearance defects.
6.2 Dimensional Inspection
6.2.1 Measuring Instruments
Configure according to the provisions of 4.1 in GB/T 19367-2022.
6.2.2 Length
Measure according to the method specified in 4.2 of GB/T 19367-2022.
6.2.3 Width
Measure according to the method specified in 4.2 of GB/T 19367-2022.
6.2.4 Thickness
Measure according to the method specified in 4.3 of GB/T 19367-2022.
6.2.5 Flatness
Measure according to the method specified in 4.6 of GB/T 19367-2022.
6.2.6 Edge Straightness
Measure according to the method specified in 4.5 of GB/T 19367-2022.
6.2.7 Squareness
Measure according to the method specified in 4.4.1 of GB/T 19367-2022.
6.3 Physicochemical Property Testing
6.3.1 Test Piece Preparation
6.3.1.1 The sample size shall be determined according to the provisions of 7.3.4.
