1 Scope
This standard specifies the classification, ordering information, dimensions, appearance and permissible deviation, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, packing, marking and quality certificate of carbon tool steels.
This standard is applicable to the hot-rolled, forged, cold-drawn and bright steels and rods of carbon tool steels, and their chemical compositions are also applicable to ingots, billets and their products.

3 Classification
3.1 Steels in accordance with the processing method are classified into:
a) Steel UP for pressure processing, steel UHP for thermal pressure processing, steel UCP for cold pressure processing;
b) Steel UC for cutting processing.
The processing methods of steels shall be indicated in the contract.
3.2 Steels in accordance with the metallurgical quality grade are classified into:
a) Quality steel;
b) High quality steel.
