1 Scope
This document specifies the technical requirements, sampling, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, filling, transportation, and storage requirements for industrial sulfur hexafluoride. It describes the test methods for industrial sulfur hexafluoride and provides safety information for industrial sulfur hexafluoride.
This document applies to industrial sulfur hexafluoride prepared and purified from fluorine and sulfur as raw materials.

4 Technical Requirements
The technical requirements for sulfur hexafluoride shall comply with the provisions of Table 1.
5. Sampling
Conduct sampling in accordance with GB/T 43306.
6. Test Methods
Warning— Some test procedures specified in this document may involve hazardous conditions. Users shall take appropriate safety and health precautions.
6.1 General Requirements
Unless otherwise specified, analytical-grade reagents and Grade 3 water (as per GB/T 6682) shall be used in analysis.
Standard solutions shall be prepared per GB/T 601.
Test solutions and preparations shall be prepared per GB/T 603.
6.2 Sulfur Hexafluoride (SF₆) Purity
The purity of sulfur hexafluoride shall be calculated using Equation (1):
6.3 Determination of Oxygen + Nitrogen, Carbon Tetrafluoride, Hexafluoroethane, and Octfluoropropane
6.3.1 Test Method
6.3.1.1 Principle
The contents of oxygen + nitrogen (O₂ + N₂), carbon tetrafluoride (CF₄), hexafluoroethane (C₂F₆), and octfluoropropane (C₃F₈) in sulfur hexafluoride (SF₆) shall be determined using cutting injection as per GB/T 28726.
6.3.1.2 Pre-separation Columns
Pre-separation Column I:
Material: Stainless steel tube
Dimensions: ~2 m length × ~3 mm inner diameter
Pre-separation Column II:
Material: Stainless steel tube
Dimensions: ~5 m length × ~3 mm inner diameter
packing:** Ethylbenzene-divinylbenzene copolymer with 0.18–0.25 mm particle size, or equivalent pre-separation column.
