Fire Fighting Vehicles - Part 8: High-Expansion Foam Fire Fighting Vehicles
1 Scope
This document defines the terms for high-expansion foam fire fighting vehicles, specifies the technical requirements, inspection rules, and markings, packaging, transportation, and storage for high-expansion foam fire fighting vehicles, and describes the corresponding test methods.
This document is applicable to various types of high-expansion foam fire fighting vehicles and fire fighting vehicles equipped with medium-expansion foam generators.
2 Normative References
The contents of the following documents constitute indispensable clauses of this document through normative reference. For dated references, only the edition corresponding to the date applies. For undated references, the latest edition (including all amendments) applies.

3 Terms and Definitions
The terms and definitions defined in GB 7956.1 and the following apply to this document.
3.1
high-expansion foam generator
A discharge appliance installed on high-expansion foam fire fighting vehicles or provided for other fire fighting vehicles, used for discharging high-expansion foam solution and generating high-expansion foam.
3.2
medium-expansion foam generator
A discharge appliance installed on high-expansion foam fire fighting vehicles or provided for other fire fighting vehicles, used for discharging medium-expansion foam solution and generating medium-expansion foam.
3.3
foam proportioning system
A system composed of components such as a foam proportioner, foam concentrate pump, control device, and piping devices, capable of mixing water and foam concentrate in a defined proportion.
3.4
concentration
The volume fraction of foam concentrate in the foam solution.
3.5
foam expansion ratio
The ratio of the volume of foam to the volume of foam solution used to produce that foam.
3.6
50% drainage time
The time from the generation of a given mass of foam until 50% (by mass) of the solution has drained from it.
4 Technical Requirements
4.1 Basic Requirements
High-expansion foam fire fighting vehicles (hereinafter referred to as "high-expansion foam vehicles") shall comply with the relevant requirements of GB 7956.1.
4.2 Marking Requirements
4.2.1 A schematic diagram of the system operating principle and operating instructions shall be provided at the system operation location(s) on the high-expansion foam vehicle.
4.2.2 All buttons and switches on the high-expansion foam vehicle shall have graphic or textual operating markings.
4.2.3 Corresponding warning signs shall be provided at all hazardous locations on the high-expansion foam vehicle, effectively alerting firefighters to existing hazards.
4.2.4 The operating instructions, operating markings, and warning signs for the high-expansion foam vehicle shall comply with the provisions of Appendix A in XF 39—2016.
4.2.5 High-expansion and medium-expansion foam generators shall have a permanent nameplate bearing the following information:
— Product name and model;
— Foam solution flow rate and inlet pressure range of the foam proportioner;
— Foam expansion ratio;
— Type of foam concentrate;
— Flushing markings and switch position(s);
— Name of the manufacturer;
— Date of manufacture.
4.3 Firefighting Hydraulic System Requirements
4.3.1 General Requirements
The hydraulic system of the high-expansion foam vehicle shall comply with the relevant requirements of GB 7956.3 (except for the power take-off speed increase ratio).
4.3.2 Foam Proportioning System
4.3.2.1 The wetted surfaces of the foam concentrate pump and foam proportioner shall be made of materials or coated with materials resistant to foam concentrate corrosion.
4.3.2.2 The foam proportioning system shall be equipped with a flushing device. During the flushing process, the water flow shall not return to the foam concentrate tank or the water tank.
4.3.2.3 The foam proportioning system shall have an external foam concentrate suction inlet and valve, and a suction hose. The disassembly and assembly of the inlet and suction hose shall be convenient. The end of the suction hose shall be fitted with an inlet strainer.
4.3.2.4 Measures shall be provided in the foam proportioning system to prevent water from flowing back into the foam concentrate tank.
4.3.2.5 The foam proportioning system shall be located in a position convenient for operation. When operating at the system's maximum working pressure and maximum flow rate, it shall have good sealing performance with no leakage.
4.3.2.6 The mixing ratio accuracy of the foam proportioning system shall comply with the requirements specified in Table 1.
