3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1
electrode container
cylindrical conductive mold for holding unsintered electrode paste
3.2
calcium carbide cooling plant
place for cooling incandescent calcium carbide in calcium carbide production process
3.3
calcium carbide warehouse
warehouse for storing cooled calcium carbide
3.4
indirect closed recirculating cooling water system
circulating cooling water system where circulating cooling water exchanges heat indirectly with cooled medium and circulating cooling water also exchanges heat indirectly with cooling medium
4 Basic requirements
4.1 Security fundamentals management
4.1.1 Enterprises shall formulate process indicators for the height of electrode paste columns, and establish accounts for the type of paste used, dosage and paste column height.
4.1.2 Enterprises shall formulate maintenance systems for gas-fired hot blast stoves, calcium carbide furnace covers, electrode holders, furnace gas purification/treatment/holders, high-voltage electrical equipment, and in-furnace inspections/maintenances, as well as operation systems for abnormal working conditions (e.g., electrode measurement, charge level treatment, tapping & oxygen blowing, furnace cleaning). Work approval is required before operation.
4.1.3 The calcium carbide furnace gas holder shall undergo minor maintenance annually, medium maintenance every 3 years, and major maintenance every 5 years. A maintenance plan and account shall be prepared before maintenance, complying with AQ3026. For special matters directly affecting safety, timely maintenance is required.
4.1.4 When patrolling areas with toxic gas leakage risks (e.g., calcium carbide furnace workshops, furnace gas purification/treatment facilities), portable carbon monoxide detectors must be carried. Evacuate immediately if carbon monoxide exceeds the standard.
4.2 Site selection and layout
4.2.1 Site selection and general layout of new, renovated or expanded calcium carbide projects shall comply with GB 50187, GB 50016 and GB 55037.
4.2.2 Calcium carbide furnace workshops and calcium carbide cooling workshops shall be arranged on the leeward side of the minimum annual frequency wind direction of facilities such as devices and tank farms that may emit flammable gases.
4.2.3 Calcium carbide furnace, cooling, conveying trestle, crushing workshops and warehouses shall be located in areas with low groundwater level, high terrain and dry site.
4.2.4 The external safety protection distance shall be determined in accordance with the requirements of GB/T 37243, and the individual risk and social risk shall comply with the provisions of GB 36894.
4.2.5 The minimum horizontal distance between calcium carbide cooling workshops, calcium carbide crushing workshops, calcium carbide warehouses and cooling towers shall comply with the provisions of Table 1.
4.2.6 The flood control requirements for calcium carbide furnace workshops, calcium carbide cooling workshops, calcium carbide conveying trestles, calcium carbide crushing workshops and calcium carbide warehouses shall comply with the provisions of GB 50201.
4.3 Buildings
4.3.1 According to the classification of fire hazards, the fire protection design of main factory buildings (structures) shall meet the following requirements:
a) The fire hazard category of calcium carbide crushing workshops and calcium carbide warehouses is Class A;
b) The fire hazard category of furnace gas purification, furnace gas treatment and furnace gas holders is Class A;
c) The fire hazard category of carbon material warehouses, carbon material drying workshops, batching stations and electrode paste warehouses is Class C;
d) The fire hazard category of calcium carbide furnace workshops and calcium carbide cooling workshops is Class D;
e) The fire hazard category of lime production workshops with gas facilities or fuel bins covering an area of less than 5% is Class D.
