3 Terms and definitions
For the purpose of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 12903 and the following apply.
3.1
guided type fall arrester
component that is attached to an anchor line and is capable of sliding along the anchor line with the movement of the user, with the braking action triggered by falling action
3.2
flexible anchor line
flexible connecting component that is attached to an upper suspension point during use, on which the guided type fall arrester (3.1) slides and can lock in the event of a fall
Note: Flexible anchor lines are typically fiber ropes, wire ropes, webbings, etc.
3.3
guided type fall arrester including a flexible anchor line
component consisting of a guided type fall arrester (3.1) and a flexible anchor line (3.2), which is part of a fall protection system
Note: The guided type fall arrester and the flexible anchor line are tested, verified, and used as an integrated unit. A schematic diagram of this assembly is shown in Annex A.
3.4
connecting line
component used to connect the guided type fall arrester (3.1) and the harness attachment point
Note: Connecting lines are usually safety ropes, energy dissipating elements, connectors, or any combination of these three components.
3.5
energy dissipating element
component used to absorb impact energy in the guided type fall arrester (3.1) including a flexible anchor line (3.2)
3.6
connector
component used for interconnecting and separating components of a system
3.7
stop device
component that prevents the guided type fall arrester (3.1) from accidentally disengaging from the flexible anchor line (3.2) at a specific point during a fall
3.8
maximum rated load
maximum mass specified by the manufacturer that the guided type fall arrester (3.1) including a flexible anchor line (3.2) can withstand in use
Note: It includes the dead load of operators and the mass of tools and equipment they carry, expressed in kilogram (kg).
3.9
minimum rated load
minimum mass of an operator that can trigger the braking action of the guided type fall arrester (3.1) including a flexible anchor line (3.2) during use, as specified by the manufacturer
