Combustible gas detectors – Part 2: Household combustible gas detectors
1 Scope
This document defines the terms and definitions for household combustible gas detectors, specifies classification, technical requirements, inspection rules, and marking and packaging, and describes the corresponding test methods.
This document applies to the design, manufacture and inspection of household combustible gas detector (hereinafter referred to as "detector") products used in household environments for detecting combustible gases such as natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas, manufactured gas, and their incomplete combustion products.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1 monitoring condition
The state of a detector after it has been powered on and is operating normally, without any combustible gas alarm, fault, self-test, sensor end-of-life, etc., occurring.
3.2 lower explosive limit; LEL
Under standard atmospheric conditions, the minimum concentration of a combustible gas or vapour in air that will explode.
3.3 system-based detectors
Detectors that have their own functions such as operating status indication, audible and visual alarm, historical event record storage, control output, etc., and after establishing communication with a combustible gas alarm control unit, can send various status information of the detector to the combustible gas alarm control unit in real time and realise the combustible gas detection and alarm function.
3.4 stand-alone detectors
Detectors that have their own functions such as operating status indication, audible and visual alarm, historical event record storage, control output, etc., and can realise the combustible gas detection and alarm function by themselves without additional equipment.
4 Classification
Detectors are classified according to the mode of operation as:
a)System-based detectors;
b) Stand-alone detectors.
5 Technical requirements
5.1 General requirements
Detectors shall meet the relevant requirements of Clause 5 and shall be tested in accordance with Clause 6 to confirm the conformity of the detectors to the requirements of Clause 5.
5.2 Appearance
The surface of detectors shall be free from corrosion, coating peeling and blistering, and free from obvious scratches, cracks, burrs and other mechanical damage. Fastened parts shall be free from loosening.
5.3 Basic performance
5.3.1 General requirements
5.3.1.1 Stand-alone detectors shall be powered by 220 V AC voltage or batteries. System-based detectors using wired communication shall be powered by DC voltage of 48 V or less. System-based detectors using wireless communication shall be powered by 220 V AC voltage or batteries. System-based detectors powered by an external DC power supply shall be powered by a combustible gas alarm control unit and shall have protection measures against reverse polarity connection. Detectors powered by batteries shall have a battery installation structure that prevents reverse polarity connection. When batteries are removed, there shall be a conspicuous warning mark.
5.3.1.2 The alarm set value of detectors shall be in the range of 5% LEL to 25% LEL, and the upper limit of the measurement range shall not be less than twice the alarm set value and not less than 15% LEL. For detectors that detect carbon monoxide, the alarm set value shall be in the range of 150 × 10⁻⁶ (volume fraction) to 300 × 10⁻⁶ (volume fraction).
5.3.1.3 When the concentration of combustible gas in the monitored area reaches the alarm set value, the detector shall be able to issue audible and visual combustible gas alarm signals. After the environment returns to normal, the detector shall automatically (or manually) return to the monitoring condition within 60 s.
5.3.1.4 The degree of protection provided by the enclosure (IP code) of detectors shall meet the requirements of IP30 in GB/T 4208-2017.
5.3.1.5 The model designation of detectors shall comply with Annex B of GB 15322.1-2026.
5.3.1.6 When a detector uses a non-metallic material enclosure, the flammability performance of the enclosure shall meet the requirements of the enclosure flammability performance test specified in Annex C of GB 15322.1-2026.
5.3.2 Indicator lights
5.3.2.1 The surface of detectors shall have operating status indicator lights indicating their normal monitoring, fault, combustible gas alarm and gas sensor end-of-life status. The normal monitoring status indication shall be green, the fault and gas sensor end-of-life status indication shall be yellow, and the alarm status indication shall be red.
5.3.2.2 Indicator lights shall have function annotations in Chinese.
5.3.2.3 Under ambient lighting conditions of not more than 500 lx, when the indicator lights are illuminated, their status shall be clearly visible at a distance of 3 m from the detector within a viewing angle of 22.5° directly in front of the detector.
5.3.3 Display devices
