Technical specifications for fire couplings
1 Scope
This document defines the terms of fire couplings, specifies the classification, model designation, technical requirements, inspection rules, markings, packaging and storage, and describes the corresponding test methods.
This document applies to the fire couplings used for connecting various types of fire water supply appliances.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
fire coupling
fire accessory used for interconnecting various fire water supply appliances
Note: Referred to as "coupling" in this document.
3.2
snap-type coupling
coupling connected by two pairs of locking claws and an internal chute
3.3
insertion-type coupling
coupling connected by two or more sliders driven by spring force or other means to connect the inner and outer couplings
3.4
screw-type coupling
coupling that the inner and outer couplings are connected by screws
3.5
different diameter coupling
coupling used for the transition connection between two couplings of the same type but with different nominal sizes
3.6
different type coupling
coupling used for the transition connection between two different types of couplings
4 Classification and model designation
4.1 Classification
4.1.1 Category
4.1.1.1 Couplings can be classified into snap-type coupling, insertion-type coupling and screw-type coupling based on different connection methods of their inner and outer couplings.
4.1.1.2 Couplings can be classified into general type and special type based on their application. And special type includes swivel type, locking type, etc.
4.1.2 Type and specification of couplings
The type and specifications of couplings shall meet those specified in Table 1.
4.2 Model designation
The model designation of coupling is as follows:
Example 1: An external clamp type snap-type hose coupling with a rated working pressure of 1.6 MPa and a nominal size of DN65 is designated as KD65-1.6.
Example 2: A snap-type different diameter coupling with a rated working pressure of 1.6 MPa and nominal sizes DN65 and DN80 at its two ends is designated as KJ65/80-1.6.
Example 3: An insertion-type threaded female coupling with a rated working pressure of 4.0 MPa and a nominal size of DN80 is designated as KYK80-4.0.
Example 4: A swivel type snap-type hose coupling with a rated working pressure of 6.0 MPa and a nominal size of DN65 is designated as KDKX65-6.0.
Example 5: An snap-type different diameter coupling with a rated working pressure of 2.5 MPa and nominal sizes DN65 for male coupling and DN80 for female coupling at its two ends is designated as KJK65A/80-2.5.
Example 6: A screw-type suction hose coupling with a rated working pressure of 1.6 MPa and a nominal size of DN100 is designated as KG100-1.6.
Example 7: A different type coupling with a rated working pressure of 1.6 MPa and nominal sizes DN80 for snap-type threaded coupling and DN65 for insertion-typ threaded coupling at its two ends is designated as KY80/KYKA65-1.6.
5 Coupling structure
5.1 The structure of snap-type coupling shall meet the requirements of Annex A.
5.2 The structure of insertion-type coupling shall meet the requirements of Annex B.
5.3 The structure of screw-type coupling shall meet the requirements of Annex C.
6 Technical requirements
6.1 Basic dimensions
The basic dimensions and tolerances for snap-type couplings shall meet the requirements of Table 2, for insertion-type couplings, they shall meet the requirements of Table 3, and for screw-type couplings, they shall meet the requirements of Table 4. If the dimensions are not indicated, the couplings shall comply with the requirements of coarse tolerance class c specified in Table 1 of GB/T 1804-2000.
