1 Scope
This document specifies the quantification scope, inventory analysis content, impact assessment methods, product carbon footprint report, etc., for the product carbon footprint of passenger cars.
This document applies to M1 category vehicles, including passenger cars capable of using gasoline or diesel fuel, battery electric passenger cars, hybrid electric passenger cars, fuel cell electric passenger cars, and passenger cars using gaseous and alcohol/ether fuels.

3 Terms and Definitions
The terms and definitions defined in GB/T 24067, GB/T 26989, and the following apply to this document.
3.1 carbon footprint of a product; CFP
Sum of GHG emissions and GHG removals in a product system, expressed as CO2 equivalent and based on life cycle assessment considering the single environmental impact category of climate change.

3.2 partial carbon footprint of a product; partial CFP
Sum of GHG emissions and GHG removals in one or more selected stages or processes within the life cycle of a product, expressed as CO2 equivalent.

3.3 process emission
Greenhouse gas emissions resulting from physical or chemical changes other than fuel combustion during production, waste treatment, disposal, and other processes.

3.4 primary energy
Natural energy resources existing in their natural form without any change or conversion, including raw coal, crude oil, natural gas, hydro energy, nuclear energy, wind energy, solar energy, geothermal energy, ocean energy, biomass energy, etc.
3.5 secondary energy
Other types and forms of artificial energy produced by directly or indirectly processing and converting primary energy to meet specific needs of production processes or daily life, such as electricity and heat generated from raw coal, petroleum, or natural gas.
3.6 functional unit
Benchmark unit used to quantify the function of a product system.

3.7 declared unit

3.8 system boundary
Set of criteria determining which unit processes are part of a product system.

3.9 benchmarking boundary
A fixed accounting boundary established to ensure the comparability of carbon footprint results among different automotive products.
Note: With technological progress and manageable costs, the benchmarking boundary will be expanded toward the system boundary as standards are updated, eventually achieving full alignment.
3.10 activity data
Quantitative measure(s) of an activity resulting in greenhouse gas emissions.
Note: Such as consumption of various fossil fuels, usage of raw materials, purchased electricity, purchased heat, etc.

3.11 primary data
Quantitative value for a process or activity obtained by direct measurement or calculation based on direct measurement.
Note 1: Primary data is not necessarily from the product system under study, as it may involve other comparable product systems.
Note 2: Primary data may include greenhouse gas emission factors or greenhouse gas activity data.

3.12 site-specific data
Primary data obtained from within the product system.
Note 1: All site-specific data are primary data, but not all primary data are site-specific, as data may be obtained from different product systems.
Note 2: Site-specific data includes the greenhouse gas emissions and removals of a specific unit process within a site.

3.13 secondary data
Data that does not meet the requirements for primary data.
Note 1: Secondary data is data verified by authoritative bodies with credible reliability, which may originate from databases, public literature, national emission factors, calculated estimates, or other representative data. The use of localized databases is recommended.
Note 2: Secondary data may include data obtained from substitute processes or estimates.

3.14 default value
Average value reflecting the mainstream level of the industry (e.g., material composition ratio of passenger cars, carbon emission factors for material production, carbon emission factors for complete vehicle production, etc.).
Note: Within the scope of this document, default values may be replaced by primary data or authoritative data published by competent government departments.
3.15 data quality
Characteristics of data's ability to meet stated requirements.

3.16 data quality rating; DQR
Semi-quantitative assessment result of data quality based on temporal representativeness, technological representativeness, geographical representativeness, and data source representativeness.
3.17 carbon offsetting
Mechanism using avoided, reduced, or removed greenhouse gas emissions outside the system boundary of the product under study to fully or partially compensate for the product carbon footprint or partial product carbon footprint.
Example: Inputs outside the relevant product system, such as investments in renewable energy technologies, energy efficiency measures, afforestation and/or reforestation.
Note: Carbon offsetting is not allowed in the quantification of a product carbon footprint or partial product carbon footprint. Communication of carbon offsetting information is outside the scope of this document.
