1 Scope
This document specifies the weaving type, model, and specifications of industrial metal wire woven square mesh screens with a basic mesh size of 0.02 mm to 16.00 mm, technical requirements, inspection methods, inspection rules, and markings, packaging, transportation, and storage.
This document is applicable to the screening of solid particles, filtration of liquids and gases, and other industrial uses of metal wire woven square mesh screens in production, inspection, and acceptance.
2 Normative reference documents
The contents of the following documents are incorporated into this document as indispensable clauses through normative references. Among them, the referenced documents with dates are only applicable to this document for the version on that date; the referenced documents without dates are applicable to this document for their latest version (including all amendments).
GB/T 5329 - Terminology for test sieves and screening tests
GB/T 10611 - Marking method and mesh size series for industrial nets

3 Terms and definitions
The terms and definitions defined in GB/T 5329 are applicable to this document.
4 Weaving type, model, and specifications
4.1 Weaving type
Metal wire woven square mesh screens mainly include plain weave (see Figure 1) and twill weave (see Figure 2).
4.3 Specifications
Expressed by basic mesh size and metal wire diameter.
4.4 Marking
Expressed by model, specifications, weaving type, and this document number.
Example 1: Industrial metal wire plain weave square mesh screen with a basic mesh size of 1.00 mm and a metal wire diameter of 0.355 mm is marked as:
GFW 1.00/0.355 (plain weave) GB/T 5330—2025.
Example 2: Industrial metal wire twill weave square mesh screen with a basic mesh size of 0.063 mm and a metal wire diameter of 0.045 mm is marked as:
GFW 0.063/0.045 (twill weave) GB/T 5330—2025.
5 Technical requirements
5.1 Basic requirements
5.1.1 The combination of basic mesh size w and metal wire diameter d should be selected according to GB/T 10611 and ISO 4783-1.
5.1.2 The arithmetic mean size deviation ±Y and the range of large mesh size deviation Z~X should comply with the provisions in Table 1.
5.1.3 According to the customer's special requirements, specifications in Table 2 can be selected.
5.1.4 Refer to the information in Appendices A and B for metal wire woven square mesh screen structure parameters and mesh count.
6 Inspection methods
6.1 Metal wire woven square mesh screens are inspected on a frosted glass inspection stand with uniform lighting. For mesh sizes greater than 1.00 mm, inspection can be carried out on an inspection stand with a non-lighting background.
6.2 Inspection of weaving quality: inspected by visual inspection or with a magnifying glass of 5x to 25x magnification. Defects and scrapped areas should be clearly marked.
6.3 Inspection of arithmetic mean mesh size: measured at the maximum deviation point of the mesh size deviation, in the longitudinal and transverse directions, respectively, at three points, and the lines connecting these points should not be parallel to the longitudinal and transverse directions.
6.4 When inspecting large mesh sizes, precise measurement should be carried out. The accuracy of the measuring device should be at least 2.5 μm or 1/10 of the mesh size intermediate deviation, whichever is larger. The mesh size intermediate deviation is calculated using formula (1).
6.10 Mesh width and length: measured with a scale with a graduation value of 1 mm.
6.11 Detection of tensile strength of metal wire woven square mesh screen: can refer to the method in GB/T 3923.1.
6.12 Inspection of surface quality of metal wire: visual inspection should meet the requirements of 5.3.3.
6.13 Inspection of metal wire diameter: the average value of at least 5 longitudinal wires and 5 transverse wires should be measured. For wire diameters greater than or equal to 0.140 mm, measuring tools with a minimum reading of 0.01 mm to 0.05 mm should be used. For wire diameters less than 0.140 mm, measuring tools with a minimum reading of 0.001 mm to 0.005 mm should be used.
7. Inspection rules
7.1 Metal wire woven square mesh screens should be inspected according to Chapter 6.
7.2 Metal wire woven square mesh screens should be submitted for inspection in rolls. If a roll contains multiple sections, each section should be inspected.
7.3 The inspection items should include:
a) Weaving quality of metal wire woven square mesh screen (appearance, weaving defects, curling, mesh slant, etc.);
b) Arithmetic mean mesh size;
c) Large mesh size and quantity;
d) Wire diameter and material;
e) Mesh width, mesh length, and quantity.
8. Marking, packaging, transportation, and storage
8.1 Marking
8.1.1 Metal wire woven square mesh screens should be accompanied by a product qualification certificate, which should indicate:
a) Product name;
b) Metal wire woven square mesh screen marking;
