3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 1883.1 and the following apply.
3.1
hydrogen internal combustion engine
internal combustion engine using hydrogen as fuel
3.2
hydrogen damage
phenomenon where the mechanical properties of metallic materials deteriorate due to the presence of hydrogen or their interaction with hydrogen
Note: It includes hydrogen embrittlement and hydrogen corrosion, etc. Hydrogen embrittlement refers to the phenomenon where, after hydrogen enters a metallic material, the local hydrogen concentration reaches saturation, causing a decrease in the metal's plasticity, inducing cracks or resulting in delayed fracture. Hydrogen corrosion refers to the phenomenon where carbon in metals reacts with hydrogen to form methane bubbles in a hydrogen environment at a certain temperature and pressure.
3.3
hydrogen swelling
rubber in contact with high-pressure, high-purity hydrogen undergoing hydrogen adsorption, ingress, dissolution, and diffusion, with the dissolved hydrogen causing the rubber to swell in volume (i.e., a phenomenon known as hydrogen absorption swelling)
3.4
gaseous hydrogen leakage
process by which hydrogen permeates from a closed system or pipeline to the outside
[Source: GB/T 24499-2009, 2.23, modified]
3.5
hydrogen supply system
sum of all the devices that supply hydrogen to the hydrogen internal combustion engine, with the upper end connected to the hydrogen storage system pipeline at the application end and the lower end connected to the hydrogen internal combustion engine
Note: This includes hydrogen tracks, hydrogen injectors, and other accessory devices installed on hydrogen internal combustion engines, etc.
