1 Scope
This document specifies the classification, designations, order content, manufacturing processes, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, packaging, marking, and quality certificates for silver bright steel.
This document applies to peeled, polished, and buffed round steel bars with a nominal diameter not exceeding 220 mm that require high surface quality.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1
Bright steel
Round steel with no rolled-in defects and decarburized layer, having bright surface.
Note: Further divided into flake steel, polish steel and buff steel.
3.2
Flake steel
Round steel processed by peeling to remove rolled-in defects and decarburized layer, followed by rolling.
3.3
Polish steel
Round steel processed by polishing after drawing or peeling.
3.4
Buff steel
Round steel processed by buffing after drawing, peeling, or polishing.
4 Classification and designations
Silver bright steel is classified into three types according to delivery conditions, as shown in Table 1.

5 Order content
Contracts or orders under this document shall include the following content:
a) The number of this document;
b) Product name;
c) Grade;
d) Dimensions and tolerance;
e) Surface roughness grade;
f) Order weight (or quantity);
g) Delivery condition;
h) Other requirements.
6 Manufacturing processes
6.1 Melting method
The melting method of silver bright steel shall comply with the provisions of the corresponding product standards such as GB/T 699, GB/T 1220, GB/T 1222, GB/T 1299, GB/T 3077, GB/T 3078, GB/T 4240, GB/T 5216, GB/T 8731, GB/T 15712, and GB/T 18254.
6.2 Delivery condition
6.2.1 Silver bright steel delivery conditions are classified into three types based on cold working method: peeled, polished and buffed.
6.2.2 Prior to production of silver bright steel, heat treatment may be carried out according to cold working equipment capacity or at the buyer's request.
6.2.3 At the buyer's request and specified in contract, silver bright steel finished products can be supplied in heat treated condition.
