GB/T 10045-2018 Tubular cored electrodes for non-alloy and fine grain steels
1 Scope
This standard specifies the designations, technical requirements, test methods, retesting, and conditions of supply for tubular cored electrodes for non-alloy and fine grain steels.
This standard is applicable to the tubular cored electrodes for non-alloy and fine grain steels for gas shielded and self-shielded metal arc welding (hereinafter referred to as “electrodes") with a minimum tensile strength of up to 570 MPa.

3 Designations
3.1 Classification
Classification of electrode designations is based upon mechanical properties, usability characteristics, welding position, shielding gas type, post-weld condition and chemical compositions of the deposited metal. It applies to single-pass electrodes only, and their designation classification does not include the post-weld condition and the chemical composition of the deposited metal. For a comparison of the cored electrode designations between this standard and other relevant standards, refer to Annex C.
3.2 Designation classification means
The designation is divided into eight parts:
1) The first part: T indicates a tubular cored electrode;
2) The second part: a designator indicating the tensile strength property of the deposited metal when used for multi-pass welding under as-welded or post-weld heat treatment conditions, see Table 1; or a designator indicating the tensile strength property of the welded joint when used for single-pass welding under as-welded conditions, see Table 2;
3) The third part: a designator indicating the test temperature when the impact absorbed energy (KV₂) is not less than 27 J,see Table 3. For electrodes only applicable to single-pass welding, this designator does not apply;
4) The fourth part: a designator indicating the usability characteristic, see Table 4;
5) The fifth part: a designator indicating the welding position, see Table 5;
6) The six part: a designator indicating the shielding gas type, which is "N” for self shielding, and shall be in accordance with the provisions of ISO 14175 for shielding gas, see Annex D. The letter “S” shall be added to this designator for the electrode only applicable to single-pass welding.
7) The seventh part: a designator indicating post-weld condition, where "A" indicates the as-welded condition, "P" indicates the post-weld heat treatment condition, and "AP" can indicate both as-welded and post-weld heat treatment conditions;
8) The eighth part: the chemical composition classification of deposited metal, see 4.3.
