1.0.1 In order to adopt new process, new technology, new facility and new material in the electrical isolation design of underground steel pipelines for transporting oil, gas and water, this standard is formulated to ensure advanced technology, economic rationality, safety and usability as well as quality guarantee.
1.0.2 This standard is applicable to constructed and extended cathodically protected underground steel pipelines for transporting oil, gas and water, and involves no requirements of isolating devices merely for safety purpose; this standard is not applicable to special pipelines for transporting chemical medium.
1.0.3 The electrical isolation design of cathodically protected pipelines shall comply with not only the requirements stipulated in this standard, but also those in the current relevant ones of the nation.
1.0.4 This standard only proposes the minimum requirements for the electrical isolation of cathodically protected pipelines; method and material which are better than those specified in this standard are also acceptable.
