1 Scope
This specification states the design principles and basic requirements for instrumentation selection in petrochemical industry.
This specification is applicable to the design for instrumentation selection in petrochemical industry and for new construction, extension and renovation of factories using coal as raw materials to prepare fuel and chemical products.
This specification is not applicable to analytical instruments used in laboratories, maintenance workshop instrumentation and portable instrumentation.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this specification, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
measuring range
interval determined by two values of the measured variable, which is measured with specified accuracy
3.2
span
algebraic difference between the upper and lower limits of a given range
3.3
rangeability
ratio of the maximum span to the minimum span within which an instrument or a device can be calibrated to a specified accuracy class
3.4
accuracy
degree of consistency between the measured value and the true value (actual value), which indicates the measuring error
3.5
accuracy class
class and level of instruments that meet certain measurement requirements and keep the fiducial error or relative error within the specified limit
3.6
sensitivity
ratio of the change in output to the change in input when the instrument is in steady state, indicating how sensitive the instrument is to changes in the measured parameters. It can also be described as the degree of amplification of the changes in output of the measured parameter
3.7
resolution
ability of the instrument to discriminate between differences in the measured values. degree to reflect the minimum value of the change in measured parameter that can be detected with certainty by the instrument
