1 Scope
This standard specifies the technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation and storage of automobile metal fuel tank.
This standard is applicable to the metal fuel tank (hereinafter referred to as fuel tank) of gasoline and diesel for Categories M and N automobiles. It may serve as a reference for the metal fuel tanks for vehicle fuels such as alcohol fuel, bio-fuel and coal-to-fuel. It may serve as a reference for the types and connection dimensions of fuel tank cap and refueling port for plastic fuel tanks.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this standard, the terms and definitions given in GB 18296 apply. For the convenience of application, some terms and definitions in GB 18296 are listed as follows.

fuel tank
independent tank assembly fixed on an automobile for storing fuel, which is assembled by fuel tank body, refueling pipe, refueling port, fuel tank cap, pipe joint and other accessory devices

nominal tank capacity
capacity of fuel to be filled specified in the design parameters of fuel tank
4 Technical requirements
4.1 General requirements
The fuel tank shall be manufactured according to the drawings and technical documents approved by the prescribed procedures and shall meet the requirements of this standard.
