Technical specification of flame retardant of non-metallic materials for railway vehicle
1 Scope
This standard specifies the terms and definitions, product classification, requirements and test methods of flame retardant of non-metallic materials for railway vehicle.
This standard is applicable to the inspection and manufacture of flame retardant properties of non-metallic materials for railway vehicle (including trailers and control cars of centralized power EMU).

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
exposed area
surface area of combustible material directly exposed to fire source
3.2
limited surfaces
relatively small surface of exposed area with a dimensional limit
3.3
strip
compared with the conventional surface, it has a certain length and a relatively small exposed area, which is different from the limited surfaces with relatively uniform dimensions in all directions
3.4
specific optical density of smoke
D, (n)
maximum specific optical density of smoke within n minutes, where n is the time elapsed from the beginning of the test
4 Product classification
4.1 Classification principles
For flame retardant properties of materials, the classification principles are as follows:
a) Intrinsic properties of the material;
b) Position of the material or component;
c) Shape and layout of the material;
d) Exposed area and relative mass of the material.
4.2 Product classification
The flame retardant requirements of different products are shown in Table 1 according to 4.1.
