1 Scope
This standard specifies composition and material performance requirements for the blocking structure of nuclear island buildings, caulking type of the building structure of nuclear island, type and performance requirements of the caulking material, and test methods and basic requirements of inspection and acceptance, among others, for the hole blocking materials and caulking materials in a PWR nuclear power plant (NPP).
This standard is applicable to the inspection and acceptance of hole blocking materials and caulking materials for nuclear island buildings in a PWR NPP.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
hole blocking function
hole blocking function of airtightness, watertightness, fire resistance and radiation shielding, among others
3.2
hole blocking structure
structure system that is composed of the penetrating items in the hole and a variety of blocking materials embedded in order to achieve the required hole blocking function, and is readily replaceable
3.3
modular sealing system
sealing and blocking system composed of a metal frame embedded in a concrete wall or floor, module of polymer materials combined in the form of building block system, and metal hold-down fitting
3.4
joint
gap retained or set up between two or more adjacent surfaces in the building structure of nuclear island
For example: settlement joint, expansion joint, prefabricated joint, e.g. the gap between drainage ditch cover and drainage ditch wall, the gap formed by equipment or support base and concrete structure surface
3.5
joint caulking system
system composed of a variety of materials embedded in the joint to meet the functional requirements of nuclear island building
3.6
backing material
material that confine the sealing depth and back shape of the sealing material
