1 Scope
This standard specifies requirements and test method of hydraulic retarder for bus.
This standard is applicable to Categories M2 and M3 buses, and also serves as reference to other categories of buses.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 3730.1 and GB/T 3730.2 and the following apply.

hydraulic retarder
device that provides braking efficiency for vehicles by using the resistance generated by fluid in the rotor and stator working chambers
4 Performance requirements
4.1 General requirements
4.1.1 The hydraulic retarder shall have a CAN bus interface communicating with the ABS system of the vehicle. Hydraulic retarder shall be capable of cutting off when ABS works.
4.1.2 The hydraulic retarder shall be set with working gears with different braking efficiency, and the braking torque controlled in the first gear shall not be greater than 50% of the maximum braking torque of the hydraulic retarder.
