1.0.1 This specification is formulated with a view to reasonably use concrete structure (including mixed structure of steel and concrete) in the tall building projects, so as to realize safety, usability, state-of-the-art technology, and cost-effectiveness and construction convenience.
1.0.2 This Specification is applicable to the civil tall buildings, 10-story or higher, or whose height exceeds 28m. The applicable tall buildings hereof can be either in non-aseismic design or in the aseismic design under 6-9° seismic protection intensity. The maximum height and structure type for the applicable buildings shall be in accordance with relevant provisions of this Specification.
This specification is not applicable to the tall buildings built on hazardous locations.
1.0.3 The seismic protection intensity for the tall building must be determined according to those documents (drawings) examined/approved and awarded by the specific national authorities. Generally, the seismic protection intensity may be selected from the basic seismic intensities specified by the Seismic Intensity Zoning Plan of China; for those areas where the seismic protection zoning plans have been prepared, the seismic protection can be implemented according to approved seismic protection intensity or the designed seismic ground motion.
1.0.4 The tall buildings with aseismic design shall be classified into three seismic protection types, Type A, B and C, according to the significance of the functions for use. Classification of the seismic protection types shall be in accordance with relevant regulations specified in the current national standard "Standard for Classification of Seismic Protection of Buildings" GB 50223 and "Code for Seismic Design of Buildings" GB 50011.
1.0.5 Structural design for tall building shall pay attention to conceptual design, structural lectotype and regularity for horizontal/facade Layout, and shall preferential select a structural system that has favorable aseismic and wind resistance properties and strengthen structure measures. In the aseismic design, integral seismic performance for the structure shall be adopted, so as to make the entire structure be provided with necessary bearing capacity, rigidity and ductility.
1.0.7 Not only the requirements stipulated in this Specification, but also those in the current relevant compulsory ones of the nation shall be complied with by the design and construction for concrete structure of tall building.
