1 Scope
Part 1 of JB/T 9008 specifies terminologies and definitions, types and basic parameters, technical requirements, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation and storage of electric wire rope hoists.
This part is applicable to electric wire rope hoist (hereinafter referred to as electric hoist) applying or swinging molten metal in general working environment, and it is referred to electric hoist working in other environment.
This part is inapplicable to electric hoists used in the following environments:
- The environment with explosive gas, combustible dust or corrosive gas;
- The environment with nuclear radiation or toxic gas.

3 Terminologies and Definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terminologies and definitions apply.
3.1 Electric hoist
A hoist assembled by motor, reducer, brake and others to lift and lower load-handling device by rolling and releasing lifting rope/lifting chain with reel/chain reel respectively.
3.2 Electric wire rope hoist
A kind of electric hoist taking flexible member as steel wire rope.
3.3 Hook safe distance
The minimum distance between the hook set and the potential obstacle when the hook set reaches the upper limit position and the reel rolling stops.
