Environmental technical requirements of indoor and outdoor corrosion resistant rotating electric machines
Indoor and outdoor corrosion resistant rotating electric machines (except micro-motor control machines, hereinafter referred to as electric machines) shall meet those specified in this standard. Those not specified and described in this standard shall meet those specified in GB 755, GB 5171 and the special technical specifications for the corresponding products.
1 Subject content and application scope
This standard specifies the protection types, environmental condition grades and parameters, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules and marking of electric machines.
This standard is applicable to electric machines for stationary use in indoor and outdoor corrosive environments.

3 Environmental conditions and protection types of electric machines
3.1 The environmental conditions are classified into the following six categories: climatic conditions (K), special climatic conditions (Z), biological conditions (B), chemically active substance conditions (C), mechanically active substance conditions (S) and mechanical conditions (M). Special climatic conditions may further be divided into heat radiation (Zh), ambient air movement (Za) and water except rainfall (Zw).
The conditions of chemically active substances can be divided into three severities, namely slight corrosion (C2), moderate corrosion (C3) and strong corrosion (C4).
3.2 The location of electric machines are divided into:
3.2.1 Weather-protected locations - indoors or locations with better concealment (its building construction is such that the impact of outdoor climate, including that under shed, can be prevented or reduced), which is expressed by "3” as the first digit in the environmental condition grade code and is referred to as indoor conditions.
3.2.2 Non-weather-protected locations - locations that are completely open or only sheltered simply, which can almost not prevent the impact of outdoor climate (hereinafter referred to as outdoor conditions), and is expressed by "4” as the first digit in the environmental condition grade code.
