1 Scope
This standard specifies the methods for magnetic particle inspection, magnetization specification, inspection procedure and acceptance rules of parts of rolling bearings for railway locomotive and rolling stock (hereinafter referred to as "railway bearings").
This standard is applicable to the magnetic particle inspection for cracks of surface and near-surface of railway bearing parts made from ferromagnetic materials and for other defects.

3 General Requirements
3.1 All the railway bearing parts (rings and rollers) shall be carried out with 100% magnetic particle inspection, the inspected parts shall meet the requirements of Chapter 13.
3.2 All the railway bearing parts shall adopt wet method for magnetic particle inspection.
3.3 Continuous method or residual magnetic method may be adopted for magnetic particle inspection according to the specific conditions of the inspected parts, and continuous method shall be preferred; fluorescent magnetic particle method or non-fluorescent magnetic particle method may also be adopted for magnetic particle inspection, and fluorescent magnetic particle shall be preferred.
3.4 As for the finished parts and the manufacturing procedure (such as heat treatment, grinding and cold/thermal deformation process) easy to generate defects, magnetic particle inspection shall be carried out after that, however, as for the bearing ring for which surface phosphating is needed, flaw detection inspection shall be carried out before phosphating.
4 Operation Personnel for Inspection
4.1 The operation personnel engaging in magnetic particle inspection cannot conduct the operation of magnetic particle inspection until they pass professional technical training and get the non-destructive inspection personnel technical qualification certificate for Grade II or above magnetic particle inspection specified in GB/T 9445-2005.
4.2 Personnel engaging in magnetic particle inspection shall have good vision. Inspected according to Standard Logarithmic Visual Acuity Charts, their vision before and after correction shall be larger than 5.0; inspected according to Jaeger No. 1 eye chart, the short distance vision shall be larger than 1.0. Achromate shall not engage in magnetic particle inspection work.
